Although some people use the term "Native Americans", they
aren't of course.
They came from Mongolia across the Bering Straits.

I was shocked that Game of Thrones misappropriated the use of
"dragons'! Is nothing sacred? Don't get me started on
television chefs and their misuse of "leeks" - our beloved and
sacred vegetable of Wales.

As a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant, I am offended by Wasps
appropriating the name Wasps. I demand that they cease and

Agree with them or not, I’m not sure these protests are aimed at
the right target. As stated earlier on this thread, Exeter Rugby
Club’s first XV being called the Chiefs predates the Native
American theme by many decades. The current branding was brought
in by Tony Rowe as part of the transformation and expansion of
the club. Regardless of which version of the various theories
around Rowe’s exact role are true, I suspect the reason that
Ex’s internal reviews and decisions have come back against
changing largely come down to him not wanting to.

No but the difference being that Waikato's name refers to Maori
cheifs, so that's sort of theirs to do with what they wish!

Bit late to the conversation here, I'd encourage everyone to
read the resources page from Exeter Chiefs 4 Change before you
decide whether this is valid or not. There are multiple
testimonials from indigenous people who feel very strongly that
the branding, headdress and chant shouldn't be used. You may
still read that and feel it's all a stupid "woke campaign" but
it's worth reading every viewpoint imo.

Personally, there's nothing wrong with the chiefs name but the
branding, chants and headdress make no sense in the UK.
