I also think it's bad PR for a player to be seen as someone
chasing the paycheck. The majority of rugby players still seem
to value loyalty, as do the fans.

Speaking to people who know the Smith family, they all confirm
that Marcus is a sensible lad supported by well grounded
parents.
I'd be very surprised if he would 'chase the money' so early on
in his career, especially as he is still close to his family,
who i believe are guiding him at this stage.
Who knows if a few years time, when he has a manager and he
takes more control of his decisions, he may want to move.
I don't believe he will get any where near as much game time
this year, which may have an influence ?
He's a Quin for at least 2-3 years.

I'd be gobsmacked if Smith did'nt have a 'manager/agent' now.
All of the Academy lads I know (6+) had an agent within the 1st
year of their Academy contract. Agents are sniffing around well
before the lads are signed, then it's just a matter of which one
do you want to go with.

I believe at 19 his parents have a greater influence on him and
any manager, than they will when he's 22

I don't disagree with you on that but I still believe he'll have
an agent/manager now advising, as they know the game and
'nuances' that can be included in any contract, the majority of
parents don't.

I think it's very unlikely he would change this close to the
start of a season. For a flyhalf in particular, being part of
pre-season and learning the attacking patterns is a major part
of preparing to be part of a team, so missing out on that sets
you back a lot in terms of game time, barring an injury crisis.
