Fissler has said that Smith could exercise his release clause
due to the change of coach. Bath and Sale interested. Would seem
odd

I'd be very surprised if he moved, even for more money.

Seems very odd. To renew when we're playing dreadfully then
leave with a new set up

There are loads of things that Smith could do so Fissler is
quite right in what he says, just trying to generate a story.

Is there anyone Bath and Sale aren’t interested in? Their names
always crop up on Fissler’s articles. Think this is fishing in
what has been a quietish off season.

Well of course he's technically entitled to exercise a change of
coach clause because there's been a change of coach. And of
course some teams are sniffing around him.
I'd be surprised if he moved, though - I would have thought that
working with Nick Evans would have been the primary draw for
staying. While JK is a decent bloke, his technical strengths lie
with fatter lads than Marcus.

Fissler is hit and miss like any journalist who talks mainly
about transfer rumours although slightly better than rugby
inside line. As discussed about I really can't see why Smith
would want to leave, I can't see what Bath and Sale can offer
him that Quins cannot.

So because he has a clause in his contract, he might look to use
it. What a total non story.
The bigger question is when does that clause become invalid, im
assuming he cant turn round in 2020 and say you changed coach 2
years ago i want to invoke my clause now.
I would also question why he would want to go to bath and
potentially be behind both Preistland and Burns in the pecking
order.
As for Sale i think that would be a silly move, settled down
south, with family around him or move to Sale and have nobody.

Is there any more on the supposed move? I would have thought
he’d like the challenge especially as PG will have close links
to EJ.
