Surprised to hear PDJ was still playing. Presumably not as a
full time professional (some might say he was never a full time
       professional with us).
Is Twomey young to be retiring? Guess he wouldn't have been in
great money and might as well move on to next stage of his
career. I always thought he was going to be the best of our crop
of seconds rows at the time, along with Treadwell. I know South
and Treadwell were a bit younger than Matthews, Twomey and
Merrick, but all came through with quite a lot of promise, and
only really Matthews and Treadwell have had reasonably
       successful careers.
Stegmann is another one who seemed to have loads of promise,
arguably more so then Smith, but then his career stalled and
       eventually went downhill.

Didnt Twomey have a bad/niggling injury that really stumped his
       progress??

I saw that Ben Glynn had joined Chinnor as a player/coach
       recently.

He was playing in the 2019-20 season. He was playing in the last
match v Richmond at the Rock in March 2020 before Covid ended
the season. He was 34 year old at the time.
But, remember, there was no rugby for them at all since then -
and he is now 36 - so, I can understand why he is retiring.
Also, in National 1, there is typically only one prop on the
bench. So, you need props than can play for a full 80 minutes.

Stegman was out for around 2 years with 2 ACL injuries (same
knee). never quite got back to pre-injury form.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but looking back I do think that
losing an entire (in pro rugby years) generation of highly
promising Locks makes it clear that we were getting something
       wrong here.
I won’t rehash old topics, but I hope that the club has really
understood the internal (and external) factors that lead to this
and is ensuring that we don’t fall foul of the same issues with
       the guys coming through now.

He made a career out of being signed for a club and not playing!
