Made the trip the last time we were drawn with Castres. It's a
fine town, as most rural French places are. Lovely square,
plenty of bars and restaurants and interesting architecture
directly on the river. Seem to recall we met up at a decent bar
on the river and had a big lunch in the restaurant on the first
floor before a late PM KO. It's a short walk to the stadium from
the centre and the ground is low key and nothing special a la
Montpellier or Clermont.
I'd certainly recommend it, although it is relatively
inaccessible. Toulouse flight plus a car hire is probably best
or train, as FF suggests.
It was cold that weekend and snowed during the game, but by that
time I was fully insulated against the weather.

In Summer it's a lovely small town with an old town at its core,
with plenty of bars and restaurants. In winter, as with many
places, its a bit dreary, but there's plenty of places to go.
Fast train from Paris (Montparnasse) to Castres, via Toulouse,
takes 6 ¼ hours (others 8 to 12 hours); I'd be inclined to fly
to Toulouse if you're short of time, otherwise would be ~ 10-12
hour (no allowance for long lunch in Paris) Journey from Central
London as opposed to, say, a 4 hour flight (including checking
in time at LGW) and a relatively fast (just over an hour)
journey to Castres from Toulouse Matabiau...
If you want a long lunch in Paris, then you'd need to go close
to Montparnasse, as the last fast train leaves at 13:45 (in
summer - it wouldn't give me times for Dec/Jan).
Fly to Toulouse and have lunch there or just go direct to
Castres!
Im hoping Bath play La Rochelle the same weekend and the timings
work out so both could be seen, followed by some Apres Ski at an
appropriate resort in the Pyrenees...

For a meal with a fantastic view, I'd recommend the restaurant
on top of the Montparnasse tower:

Many years ago I had such a good lunch there that I missed the
Eurostar back to London......

Tbh there is very little there, the ground isn’t up to much with
very poor facilities when we last went
If you are there in a Sunday the place is shut, we where told
it’s nice in the summer
There was snow last time we went
There is an Irish bar next to team shop that was very lively,
best bet is Toulouse and get a bus to ground

Anyone know when the specific matches (home/away/opposition) and
exact dates will be published? Hard to plan things until we know
that!

At the end of the video stream of the draw, the presenter said
that they would be announced as soon as they can. The issue is
that they have to work with the broadcasters in multiple
territories to agree schedules as well as Clubs preferred
days/times etc.
I wonder if the games are going to be "back to back" fixtures
(we play Castres away in round 1, home in round 2, Cardiff home
in round 3, away in round 4) or if they'll be splitting the
fixtures (Castres Away in round 1, Cardiff Home in round 2,
Cardiff away in round 3, Castres home in round 4).

Am I the only idiot who is confused by this. Why are there 2
teams in brackets?
