Farrell is not a 10 he does not unlock defences - that was why
they took Russell and why Marcus s there.
He might work at centre outside Smith or Russell - or even
Biggar.
If Jones was coach, he would play Farrell, and we would lose - I
hope Gatland has more vision.

Was just flicking through channels and stumbled across
‘Stormers vs y llewod’ on S4C - turns out it was the
Lions highlights! Handy if you don’t have Sky.
Some great play from Marcus later on - hard not to be biased but
surely he must have fought his way into contention. What a few
weeks!

Gatland has a big call over Farrell. He has not been on form at
flyhalf and is not what we need against SA at inside center.
Will he be brave enough to put Smith at least on the bench? He
is the type of player to bring on to change things up. It would
be amazing for Smith to start, however bench is what I think he
will get.
He showed against a hard hitting Stormers team that he is able
to gel with the Lions. His break for LRZ try was so good to see.
Trusting his instincts and doing what he has done with Quins all
season.
Eddie are you watching?
I think the Farrell call for Gats is on a par with O'Driscoll in
the 2013 Lions.

It depends on whether Gatland thinks he might need to change up
the game plan late in the second half. If he does, then Smith is
the only fit player on the tour who can do that.

If he starts Farrell then any flyhalf (and several of the rest
of the team) could change it up.

If he starts Farrell, then that means Biggar is injured and
Marcus is almost certain to be on the bench.

Gats biggest headache is whether to split the bench 6/2or 5/3,,
obviously 3 front row needed, but we (IMHO) have enough 2nd/back
row talent to allow a 5/3 split, thus a SH, FH and a utility
back(Daly! Unfortunately but loved by Gats! Wash my mouth out
with soap) so Marcus starts or on the bench. No chance by 6/2
split, SH and utility back.

IMO Marcus's best shot would be if the Lions lost the first 2
tests then Smith might be in with some game time from the bench.
