2021/22 Squad

So by my reckoning the squad is something like this:
LH
Marler, Garcia Botta, Els
Hooker
Gray, Walker, Head, Musk, Riley

Louw, Collier, Kerrod, Baxter, Trenier
Lock
Lewies, Symons, Lamb, Scotland-Williamson, Jurevicius, Tizzard,
Hammond

Chis Jr, Lawday, White

Evans, Kenningham, Wallace
8
Dombrandt
Scrum Half
Care, Steele, Stafford, Gjaltema
Fly half
Smith, Allen, Edwards
Winger
Lynagh, Murley, Morris, Chis Sr
Inside Centre
Esterhuizen, Lasike
Outside Centre
Marchant, Northmore, Jones
Full Back
Green, David
I feel we need another big 6/8, centre and fly half.
Centre might be covered by Lennox Anyanwu and we might be able
to cover back row with a youngster but fly half is a worry if
Marcus is off with England and for the start of the season
following his Lions tour duties.
I’m sure you’ll remind of all the players I’ve missed.

I’d expect Riley, Baxter and Jurevicius to still be in the
Academy next season.
Otherwise I think you’ve only missed Kerrod at Tight Head.

Agree on another big ball carrier at 8/6.
Disagree on fly half. Allen has been signed recognising that
we'll likely be missing Marcus due to internationals. We've gone
from having the worst back up 10 in the league in Herron to
arguably the best in Allen (maybe Rob Du Preez at Sale takes
it).
Next season will be fascinating with Sarries back up plus
hangover from the Lions. Based on recruitment so far, fans from
pretty much every team in the league can make a reasonable case
for their team being better next season.
Pretty happy with our recruitment all things considered. Our
issue has been strength in depth and if you laid out our second
choice XV against others in the league it would've come up
short. I think David, Jones, Allen and CSW change that.

I guess for me Marcus is going to be off with England when they
play which leaves us with Allen, who as you rightly say is a big
upgrade as our backup 10, but after that it’s Edwards. Without
being disrespectful to Edwards he isn’t even at Herron’s level
so if anything were to happen to Allen (Italy/injury/ban) then
we would be in a bad way. I think we need a young fly half who
can learn off Allen and Marcus and step in and do a job when
called on, think Atkinson at Wasps.

I think that is a little harsh on Edwards. He has looked ok in
his very short cameos. Just because he has not played much 15s,
does not mean he is not up to it. Certainly played with more
intent than Herron. Benson will prob step up from the academy
so he will be the Young squad player.
I also think people might be getting carried away re Smith. Do
we really think Jones is going to pick him over Farrell and Ford
(Possb even Umaga)??

From what I’ve heard about Edwards he is more of a 15/13 but I
guess time will tell. It might be harsh on the lad but I would
still rather have Herron than him at 10.
Does anyone know anything about the academy lad?
I think Smith will be in the England squad, might be the 3rd
choice and released back to us or could be the 2nd choice behind
Farrell.

Benson was probably the best fly half in the age group for the
last couple of years and was recently voted the best prospect
overall in the age group. I’d argue he’s a potentially more well
rounded than Marcus was at that age but not quite as high of an
‘x-factor’.
