Announcement Today?

Well the club have announced three signings in three days,
anyone think we might see another today?
I must admit they’ve already covered all the rumours I thought
were likely, but I also think we might have room for one more
back, so wouldn’t be surprised either way. An Academy update
would be good too.

I’m not expecting anything else TBH.
I guess there’s an outside possibility that Ibitoye has
re-signed or maybe Matson has brought someone with him from NZ?

Had an email from the club come through that seemed to be
rounding up the announcements we've had this week - which makes
me feel we're probably done for this season's recruitment. I'm
pretty happy with the balance of the squad and if either of the
two young scrummies step up anything like how Kenningham, Lynagh
etc have stepped up then I think we're looking pretty good
across the board...

Yup - they also did a round up of signings on Facebook, which
normally marks the end of the new arrival news.
Assuming Fin Baxter has become a loosehead permanently, scrum
half is probably the place where we most need to see the new
talent come through. But given the number of irreplaceables the
club has replaced of late, I have faith in the academy and our
recruitment.

I think that's it for new recruits. Priority now should be
improved terms for the likes of Kenningham and Lynagh. I'm sure
Laurie and Billy are on the case.
The encouraging thing is the continuity in the squad from last
season to next.
I'm pleased with the player recruitment/retention overall. We've
now got genuine cover at 10, and Kenningham's emergence and the
return of Wallace has largely addressed the back row concerns
(although another hard carrying 8/6 wouldn't go amiss).
Only real concern is at hooker. I will reserve judgement but not
sure Walker is in Baldwin's class. Hope Jerry works his magic
and I'm proven wrong by one of Walker/Musk/Riley who seamlessly
fill his shoes.

Parisse signed an extension didn't he? And I think the Matera
rumour was more recently that we were interested in him joining
end of next season - presumably when others are out of contract.
A lot can change in that time though...

Looks not FQ. Shame, would have liked Parisse for a season to
cover for Dommers when he retains his England squad place in the
Autumn (feeling optimistic). I suppose we could play baby Chis
at 8 during those absences. He can't do what Dommers does but
then I don't think that person exists. He carries well and not
afraid of the big hits.
Not sure I can cope with all of this optimism on CAW, it's
slight unnerving!!! :-)

Yeah our back row looks a little light if we consider the
potential absence of Dombrandt.
Blindside: Chis Jr, Lawday, White, maybe CSW?
Openside: Evans, Kenningham
No 8: Dombrandt, Chis Jr, Lawday
So we're reliant on the flexibility of a couple of players to
cover positions. With Chisholm being slightly injury prone, we
could easily be 2 men down for a chunk of the season, leaving us
with only one number 8 option and having to start with White,
which went OK at times last season but isn't ideal.
Am I forgetting anyone? Do we have a youngster coming through
who would add to that mix? Or should it just be a case of "we
have 2 good sixes and a couple of locks in CSW & Lewies who can
play 6, and Kenningham might be worth a go there"?

Lewies can also cover 6.
