We finally ditched the tired old minor celebrities and picked
the young guns and look us at...in the flipping Euro final!!
Time for the Rugby team to follow suit me thinks????

Sorry still don’t know anything about football. The problem with
England rugby seems to be Eddie Jones but that’s not changing
       anytime soon.

Erm... the rugby team have been to the RWC Final four times
since the football team last made to a final of any sort,
winning one - and the last time doing it with a lot of young
guns (albeit falling at the final hurdle).
I think that more important in the footballers' success was
Southgate's work in building a team identity and getting the
players to play for something bigger than themselves and to take
accountability for their own training and performance. A big
part of that (as has been covered on another thread) is the work
he's done with Owen Eastwood - who has also been working with
       Quins this season.

And both have won it the same amount of times.
Without wanting to get into a long debate about it but, I think
the football one is a bit harder to get to the final let alone
       win it.

I'd agree that it's harder to get to the soccer final - although
with the level of talent that England has in soccer they ought
to have done better than they have done. I'm not sure it's
harder to win once you get there.
And there have only been 9 RWCs and England have made the final
in 4 of them - whereas there have been nearly 30 major football
       championships since 1966.
I'd also argue that England could well have won RWC 2019 if it
       hadn't been for Sinckler's concussion.

Siya Kolisi said long after the game finished that it had nowt
to do with Sinckler, he knew at the coin toss from Farrell's
demeanour that he (and England) wasn't in the right place
mentally-wise (look at the differing body language of the 2
captains in the photo in the link below). When you consider the
bad press that Borthwick, Corry and Robshaw used to receive, it
amazes me how much Teflon-Farrell gets away with when he is such
       a poor captain.

He may have said that. He may have felt that. Doesn't mean he
       was right.
I imagine, for instance, that Bristol went down the tunnel at
half time thinking they had a defensible lead because no-one had
ever come back from that big a deficit. Quins have said that
they went in knowing that there was a chance to get back in the
game because Bristol were looking tired. Only one of those
perspectives was right - and the only one we've heard is that of
       the team that won.
And while I'm not a particularly big fan of Farrell, the people
whose opinions actually matter - the players and the coaches -
consistently talk about how he is a good leader.

I'm not sure that Kolisi is an expert in the psychology of
       introverted northerners.

Looks like a man that knows his club team were about to be found
       guilty of horrendous corruption...
