2012 vs 2021 teams

Hello, just for fun I am not down playing I was thinking how
would the two teams measure up against each other (I know there
are a couple of players that are in both :))
2012 2021
outcome
1. Marler (21 yo) 1. Marler (30 yo) - even I guess
(marler better now?)
2. Gray (23 yo) 2. Baldwin - I think
Baldwin edges it 21
3. Johnston 3. Louw - firmly
Louw for me 21
4. Kohn 4. Symons - this is
even for me
5. Robson 5. Lewies - Robson
edges it 12
6. Fa'asavalu 6. Chisholm - big Mo
here 12
7. Robshaw 7. Kenningham - win for
Chris 12
8. Easter 8. Dombrandt - very
close but Nick 12
9 Care (25 yo) 9. Care (34 yo) - even
10. Evans 10. Smith - really close Nick
coaches Smith so Nick 12
11. Monye 11. Murley - Ugo here
12
12. JTH 12. Esterhuizen - feel
terrible for this but Andre 21
13. Lowe 13. Marchant - wow eek
dont shout Marchant 21
14. Williams 14. Lynagh - Lynagh is
quicker but Tom for me 12
15. Brown 15. Green - Brown
will always be the greatest12
so starting team four players for 21 , 8 for the 12 team. This
would be one hell of a game I was going to do subs but we did
not use a lot in either game.
So how accurate do you think or am I too biased to the first
team to ever win it?

A tad biased to the first team I think mate
For me:
1. Marler 21
2. Evens
3. Louw 21
4. Kohn 12
5. Lewies 21
6. Fa'asavalu 12
7. Robshaw 12
8. Dombrandt 21
9. Care 21
10. Smith 21
11. Ugo 12
12. André 21
13. Marchant 21
14. Williams 12
15. Brown 12
21 team - 8
12 team - 6
Evens - 1
A couple of notes - I do think Dombrandt and Smith are verging
on better now than their predecessors ever were, which is a
pretty big thing to say, but I'm confident in it being true.
Secondly, I don't think that, with Brown of '12 instead of
Green, we win that game yesterday, Green's little big of
attacking X Factor was a big point of difference against both
bears and chiefs, but Brown was still a better player all round.

I agree I found the Dombrandt and Smith compared with Easter and
Evans nearly impossible

Well, I can say that Marler for the 1 shirt is better :-)
So difficult to say as the 21 team achieved a style of play that
the 12 team never quite reached. The final in 12 was their
greatest performance but still more structured rather than
instinctive. You could argue that Sarries away in 12 was almost
the complete performance that season.
What this team has done in the last 3 weeks has been off the
scale. It's alright believing you can be slack in defence and
backing yourselves but to pull that off against the 2 best teams
in the league this season is quite incredible.
I can imagine that the '73 Baa Baa's and All Blacks of the
80s/90s would stand up to applaud what we did in the last 2
weeks.

The problem with this comparison is that it's very first to take
the two teams in isolation. When comparing players, we will
naturally consider the 2012 lot in light of their entire time at
the club, rather than just that season.

Very difficult. Brown’s reputation would give him a huge red
flag for the opposition before he even started. I also think
that Joe Marchant deserves huge plaudits and had an immense game
and maybe made Green look even better than he was?
NEVs game management was always superb but as he always says
Marcus has skills ‘he can only dream about’.
On drop goals there is no contest at present- Nev.
THAT George Lowe tackle will never be forgotten.
Kenningham is still academy (including salary) so he must have
plaudits if not the crown
But I think I have to agree with Use it or Loose it.

I think what's so impressive about this team is how the
young/new players have slotted in so well in the last few weeks
and months. Kenningham, Lynagh and Green have all put in huge
performances of the very highest level with only a few first
team appearances to their name.
Also, a word for the quiet but huge work of Matt Symons. A real
unsung hero busily doing huge amounts of the dirty work.

I think Chisholm has made a huge difference the last 2 games.
Lawday is game but lacks the physical power Chisholm has. Id be
looking for another Bulky powerful 6/8 if we have the cap space.
BUt that is me going off topic!! Tough on Chisholm leaving him
out, but Big Mo was an animal, one of my Favourite Quins. Just
looking at him, he seemed made of rock.

Agree, without sounding harsh on Brown, I dont think we have
really suffered without him. If anything, Green has offered
more in the attacking style.
I worry about Symons, always looks like he is carrying a knock.
Was limping badly on Saturday after the game. Always pleased to
see him fit

Completely agree with this, Lawday is ok but Chisholm is
different class, but Mo was a beast
