I'd expect Marcus Smith to be called up to the England squad on
Monday, but will Jones try to shape him to play the 'English
way'?
Jones' past experience with Cipriani is a worry. Smith has
matured beyond 'maverick', but would Jones ever risk a H
Randall, M Smith, S Simmonds trio like Care, Smith, Dombrandt?
Hopefully Smith will shape Jones more than Jones shapes Smith!

Unless Eddie reshapes England on the Quins model I don't think
he'd bring them in nor do I want him to.
England are bland and boring, and actually not that good any
more. I'm much more excited watching Quins this season.

With potential England calls for players such as Dombrant,
Marchant & Smith. Plus Marler as he has been outstanding
Harlequins need to ensure we have suitable cover in these
positions.
Next season we do not want to be a points magnet for the GP
games when missing key players.
Anyone still got a baggy head from yesterday?
I am out with truck collecting several ton of concrete blocks
ready for site tomorrow :)

The matches this summer are more than likely going to be like
Barbarians games. I think even EJ knows he can’t stick with the
6N team so expect to see something a bit more interesting for
these matches at least.

I expect 2 fairly exciting teams for the USA and Canada games.
Irrespective of how anyone plays, I then expect to see Jones
trott out the usual suspects come the AIs. I just cant see how
Smith will replace Farrell or Ford, likewise Dombrandt (or
Simmonds) re Vunipola.

The guy is so good you have to build a team around him for these
2/3 games. You know what the other guys can do, find a way to
make it work with Marcus. He doesn't fit how they've done things
up til now, but you have to find a place for him.
Not many flair players win world cups from that position. Those
sides have a steady player at 10 most, if not all, of the time.
Marcus' future is probably as a gamebreaker off the bench in the
first instance, giving England an alternative if plan A falters
in attack. That's already more than England had in the six
nations. If he finds a way to build the team around him, then so
much the better.

IIRC the England team that toured Argentina in the last lions
tour was very willing to throw the ball around - there were some
great games. Hopefully Eddie will give the some license to play
the same way this summer.
Completely agree that longer term England will need to change
the way they play in order to accommodate Smith, it might also
take a bit if time for his new teammates to gel with him as he’s
so instinctive

Smith being labelled a "maverick" is so lazy. He's not a
Cipriani or Michalak type who blows hot and cold or has moments
of madness. Yes, he has attacking flair by the bucket load, but
he knows when to play and when not to.
