I will give you that. Given a year or two, and assuming we can
find a decent hooker, I think this side has several players who
are or could be better than their illustrious predecessors.
       2012 Finalists - 2021 Finalists
Marler 2012 < Marler 2021 - in that side he was good; now I
       think he's world class
       Gray 2012 = Baldwin
       Ross < Louw
       Kohn > Symonds
       Robson < Lewies
       Robshaw > Chisholm
Fa'asavalu > Kenningham (but in a year or two I could see
Evans/Kenningham/Kenningham being a more effective pairing than
       Mo/Robshaw/Robshaw)
Easter < Dombrandt - tough call, but I think Dommers is now even
       better than prime Easter
Care 2012 < Care 2021 - he may have lost a touch of pace, but
his kicking, game management and temperament are better
Evans > Smith. The question is, for how long?
       Monye > Morris
JTH = Esterhuizen If Andre can keep his elbows to himself for a
       season, I'll give to him
Lowe < Marchant. Joe has finally done what he's always had the
potential to do. He's arguably the best EQP 13 right now
Williams > Lynagh. But give him time...
Brown > Green. Though it's surprisingly close. 2012 Brown was
not as good as 2016 Brown or 2021 Brown, though.
The 2012 side edges it for me by 1 vote. I may feel differently
       at 7.30 on Saturday.

We have some great talent in the centres at the moment don't we!
Better center pairing though, not entirely sure I could agree or
feel that way with the pairing part. JTH/GL’s pairing worked so
well as they knew exactly what the other was doing without even
looking, they played together consistently in the same lineup
without often being interchanged much at all in their prime,
unless injury etc. They were phenomenal in attack and incredible
in defence, always read each other like a book, covered and
       complimented each other very well.
However, I definitely agree and personally feel for sure we have
some great talent in the centres whereby our current centres
certainly do match the quality of JTH & GL as individual. I
don’t think we have a go to 100% pencilled in centre partnership
pairing though, I feel we have great centres which work well
together, but still to find out best combo in the long run, or
atleast in pretty much consistent terms like we had with JTH/GL
for atleast 4 seasons. I feel like we have the first part nailed
in (great multi talented choice in centres), now we just need to
       find a great consistent pairing.
Out of interest, which pairing would you go for now mate if all
were fit/no bans and wearing to go? I’d have to go with Andre at
12 and Joe at 13. If we manage to keep both for a good length of
time fit and ban free, I definitely feel a prosperous centre
       partnership on the cards.

World class on his day, which he had many of. Definitely, I
think he had great form in an England shirt

and he spent a lot of time playing for Quins trying not to get

Quins teams. Was clearly a world class / legend for NZ but he
was very much past it when he came to Quins and didn’t put any
stand out performances in. Similarly Adam Jones did a great job
for Quins as a player but his influence was much more as a
mentor gor Sink & Collier who both were ahead of him playing
wise by that point and were selected for the big games ahead of
       him

Now this is my kind of team. There was in my opinion, no better
hooker in the world than the raging potato in that period
1994-2000 and it was lucky for us that he was a Quins player.
And oh what money I would have paid to see Ackford and Horwill
in the same second row. Ditto your thoughts about Zinzan WSQ,
and the same for anyone putting in Coker. World class, but not
present enough in the quarters. As for Peter Winterbottom,
there is no doubt in my mind that he was the best ever English
back row of the amateur era.
Thanks WSQ - really enjoyed that!

Great thread! In terms of who I’ve watched, I’d go for:
       1. Marler
       2. Botha (terrific player I really enjoyed watching)
       3. Louw
       4. Robson
       5. Lewies
       6. Big Mo
       7. Robbo
       8. Easter
       9. Care
       10. Smith (this season has pushed him ahead of nev by a whisker)
       11. Monye
       12. JTH
       13. Marchant
       14. Williams
       15. Brown
       16. Wood
       17. Leonard
       18. Sinck
       19. Horwill
       20. Dombrant
       21. Gomersall (especially with the hulk hogan hand to ear to gee
       up the crowd)
       22. Nev
       23. Green

Still on a high after coming back from Bristol. Just had a few
pints in The White Swan on the river, and logged on to this
thread. Haven’t really worked out my best 15, but sat here
greatly appreciating how pivotal Big Mo was to our league
       winning team.
We’ve had some great, internationally renowned back row players,
       but Mo was inspirational.

Enjoyed the thread, but anyone who doesn’t have a back row of
Robshaw, Vos, Easter has got the answer wrong.

Same as you. Esterhuizen/Marchant. I think both are slightly
better in attack than JTH/Lowe but Andre's discipline is a
concern and Lowe was a demon defender - not that Marchant is
       bad.
