According to the club twitter, he's on paternity leave. I can
imagine he might come back for this, though.

Goodness, I hope so. Surely he can have lots of paternity leave
after the Final ...

I was hoping/thinking the same - "surely Joe will want to be
involved in this one" - but would he have been in training this
week? Even if he hadn't, I'd hand him the 1 shirt if he turned
up to Brizzle half an hour before the semi tomorrow... but I'm
not sure many professional coaching setups would agree with that
way of conducting business. And SGB is all over the Instagram
post Quins put up this morning. Foreboding...
(And yes, of course there are more important things than a game
of rugby and I wouldn't begrudge him making the choice to stay
home one bit, but in the context of Quins' title hopes you'd
have to say Joe starting is crucial).

Flannery said they'd only be having two training sessions this
week so I doubt he'll miss much.

You'd think those two training sessions would be pretty
mandatory though for a professional club going into a knockout
play-off game. You can imagine the team meeting at the start of
day 1/2: "Here's the blueprint for beating Bristol boys". I
think the idea behind just having 2 sessions was to keep them
all fresh - but that just makes those 2 sessions even more
crucial, no?
I'm still hopeful (but not as expectant as I was previously)
that Joe's name will be the first in the list.

That is a massive loss if Joe doesn't play. Of course family is
more important but this is probably his last chance to win a 2nd
prem. Can't Mark Lambert come out of retirement?

Well yes, under normal circumstances. I think the current club
culture places great importance on family support and I would
imagine that any spouse of a birthing person would be treated as
an exception to the rule for the birth of a new theyby.

I think they did two tailored training sessions for Joe by Zoom:
1. "OK Joe, so here's the plan: you know all of Kyle's weak
spots so take him to pieces in the scrum and see if you can wind
him up without getting dinged"
"Alright Bomb."
2. "OK Joe. You remember that time you absolutely flattened
George North? Do that to Radrada every time he comes near you
with the ball."
"Alright Jerry"
"Actually, do that to any Bristol player who gets the ball".
"Mate, I've had no sleep since Saturday night and the kids are
driving me up the wall because I've kitted them all out in
facemasks of Bristol players. I've got a man-sized bucket of
pent up aggression that's just waiting for Ashton Gate."
"As long as you stay on the right side of Wayne, mate, that
sounds great"
