At the moment Pat Lam and everything Bris is flavour of the year
with much fawning from the rugby world but soon success will
become expected and the pressure changes. Sarries dealt with the
pressure and kept winning using dodgy financials. Exeter and
Bristol don't have that luxury.

I'd argue Lam has already said enough stupid stuff to see the
tide start to turn. His defence of Piatau Snr in the fight with
Kitchener (defending himself by throwing the first punch) and
Afoagate are two examples that immediately spring to mind.

Skinner? I agree he did bend but (and it could be my Sharky
glasses) to me he seemed to drive up. Given he knew he was
tackling somebody 10" shorter, a more prudent approach would be
to stay low.

If you choose to put in a forceful tackle on a player who is
already being tackled then it's your fault if you whack them in
the head. The tackled player's height didn't change
significantly or suddenly before the tackle.
Complete absence of any thought about player safety, just "smash
him bro".

Intent doesn’t come in to it. Ewers might not be a dirty player,
but the simple fact is that it was a dangerous tackle that made
forceful contact with the head. A definite red.
Baxter is right in one thing though - it is wildly inconsistent.
When you compare these tackles to the level of danger and force
for Andre’s red vs. London Irish, it’s a laughable that it was
even a sending off.
I also note they got 4wks for way more dangerous play than Mike
Brown’s 6wks and they also pleaded not guilty!
Baxter can shut up about being hard done by.
