No one actually believes that they've thought this through, do
they? It was all about getting Saracens back up worry about how
it will work later. They should have had Ealing (or whomever
finished in the Top 2) up as well and made it balance but oh no,
devalue it more for the fans.
How one club can cause so much chaos when it's less than 10% of
the whole beggars belief.

The long-term future structure of professional rugby in England
will be decided this morning in what is set to be a historic
decision on whether, finally, to introduce ring-fencing to the
Gallagher Premiership.
The decision has already been taken to transform the Premiership
into a 13-team league next season. The RFU council will vote
today on whether to keep the 13 clubs in a ring-fenced league or
to keep alive the dream for other clubs to win promotion to join
them.
Ring-fencing has been fiercely debated over many years. Today,
the issue will finally be settled. The council has a number of
options. It could decide to leave the 13 teams untouched,
without promotion or relegation. It has also been looking at the
possibility of allowing promotion for one more club to make it a
14-club league. Transforming the league from 12 clubs to 13 next
season and maybe 14 the year after that is a considerable
change.
However, the more controversial part of the decision will be
whether the drawbridge is then pulled up, thus cutting off the
top tier from the rest.
A number of Premiership clubs are known to favour ring-fencing,
because it would give them the security to build a comprehensive
business plan. The clubs in favour have been those most likely
to face relegation.
However, there is a considerable body of opinion that would
oppose any such move. There are many who believe that clubs
should be able to chase the dream and follow the example set by
Exeter Chiefs and win promotion and, one day, challenge at the
top.

Alas, unlike another club, we don't get to dictate who we play
at Big Game. Still, I think we'll all just feel grateful to be
back there for it. I missed '19 as I was in South Africa and
last years cancelled so I can't wait for that one.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we'll be facing Saracens at Big
Game next season. We haven't faced them at Twickenham since BG4
in our previous Premiership* winning season. It would be an easy
sell to the neutral/casual spectator, and with the LDH
apparently no longer happening**, it would give the RFU a chance
to get money in their coffers.
*How nice it is to write that phrase "our previous winning
season"!
** There hasn't been an LDH since 2017. Twickenham was
undergoing its refurb in 2018, and the 2019 was pulled due to
the RWC pushing it too close to Big Game meaning we weren't
willing to take part in it. 2020 was of course cancelled and
whether there's sufficient enthusiasm for crowds to gather at
the start of the season while things are still up in the air
courtesy of Covid, Vaccines, Variants, etc...

I agree with Fred - almost certainly the Big Game will be
against Salarycens. If not then I predict Wasps.

Irish - our nearest neighbours - guaranteed sell out...
Prefer to play Sarries at the Stoop, since we'll probably end up
at Wembley/Spurs for the away game...

Yes, for BG I'd expect Irish, Wasps or maybe Exeter.
On Sarries 'big game' I'm no fan of how they can fix the
opposition for the event but it's good that we can play them on
grass rather than plastic if indeed we do play at Spurs.

I’d like it to be against a team we’ve yet to play in Big Game -
my preference would be Bath
