Having seen his disappointment after not making the tour I'm
delighted that he's been called up, now with a chance to show
some unfinished business against SA, & what might have been had
he not gone off after a few minutes from the start of the last
WC.

Going into the tour yes, but a lot can happen over the warmup
games. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if he's on the bench
for the tests behind Furlong, who's the only tighthead I think
is in similar or better form. I was very surprised Kyle wasn't
picked in the first place - but there's some speculation that
Gatland didn't like the fact he stayed out all night and got
into a bit of trouble on the last tour. He's grown up a lot
since then.
I still think that the Lions will need Marler if they want to
match the Bokke pack, though. Whether he'd opt to go or not is
another question, but he's shown all season that he's the best
scrummaging loosehead in the home nations.

Well, Gatland has reinforced his point by first not picking Kyle
and now he's only made the tour by the skin of his teeth. He
must recognise how lucky he is and is unlikely to mess up a
second time - please!

Trouble is Gatland really doesn't care about the warmup games
except the ones he uses to make sure his 1st XV gets some time
together. He's happy to sacrifice multiple tour matches and give
us an awful spectacle to boot.
