Team for the semi

I was thinking about what our team will look for the semi final
and I think we have a few questions surrounding our back row,
who plays 12 and our back three. I’m thinking the below would be
who I pick to probably play Bristol:
Marler
Baldwin
Louw
Symons
Lewies
Chisholm- I think we really are missing him at the moment and I
really hope he is fit for the playoffs. Lawday is okay but just
doesn’t have the abrasiveness that Chis has. I’d even be tempted
to push Lewies to 6 and bring in Dino if he isn’t
Kenningham
Dombrandt
Care
Smith
Morris- probably edges it and has returned to the team strongly
Northmore- tough decision, I haven’t liked Lang at 12 so I’d
prefer to have Northmore or Taps at 12. Taps has done well but I
think we need to get Northmore in this team with his form.
Marchant
Lynagh- looked sharp when he came on on Friday but will be a
tough decision if Murley is fit
Green

13 Northmore
12 Tapui
11 Morris
10 Smith
9 Care
8 Domborant
7 Keningham
6 Chisholm
5 Symonds
4 Lewis
3 Louw
2 Baldwin
1 Marler
Northmore at 13 as Marchant is impressing on the wing and I
think Northmore would be the preferred 13. He has been beaking
the gain line and running some beautiful line. Plus he is
excellent chasing the restarts.

In the back row: if Chisholm is fit he plays, but agreed, if not
then Lawday isn’t as impactful as you’d want for a game like
this. White is a much better starter than a sub, but him and
Kenners doesn’t feel very balanced on the flanks. I’d agree
moving Lewies back is interesting, and gives us Dino in the line
out for the full game, but with Marler, Louw and Symons rested
I’m hoping we look to really attack in the scrum and would be
reluctant to disrupt that. I’d also consider moving Kenningham
over to 6 and bringing in Wallace at 7, for a Robshaw / Skinner
/ Easter type line up.
Morris on the wing is a lock for me. If we accept that he is
indeed a winger and not a fullback, his performances there have
been excellent and I think he provides a good balance with Green
at 15.
Tapuai at 12 - one of few positives from Friday was the timely
reminder that Taps is a quality player.
Marchant at 13 - hard on Northmore, but I think we need a little
more structure for this match, so Luke starts on the bench for
me.
Lynagh / Murley at 14 depending on who’s fit to play.

Hopefully we get a few back from injury in time to strengthen
our matchday squad. Having Chisholm, Els and Lasike available
would be a real boost.

That’s the team for me. Need Chis but we need a match fit Chis,
so hopefully he gets a good 60 under his belt on Saturday.
Lawday is ok but that’s just it he’s ok. Decent squad player.

I'd take that for the semi's but wonder what team we will put
out on Saturday, especially as the visitors have a very slim
chance of making 8th if Bath,LI & Wasps fail to pick up points.

If all of our injuries return (barring WEv) and taking into
account the bans to Esterhuizen (back for the final) and Brown
(too sad to repeat), our strongest team, I think, is:
Marler
Baldwin
Louw
Symons
Lewies (c)
Chisholm
Kenningham
Dombrandt
This pack has everything, even in WEv's absence.
Care
Smith
Earle
Northmore
Marchant
Murley
Green
Quality, skill and pace throughout this back line, especially
potent in attack.
Impact Players ( ;))
Gray
Garcia Botta
Collier
Lamb
Lawday
Steele (I went for Landajo yesterday but if Steele is 100% he
gets the nod).
Tapuai (Has played his way in ahead of Lang and probably Lasike
too).
Lynagh (just ahead of Morris, in my eyes).
Strong players who will blend successfully with the first XV
without too much of a drop off in quality.
