If it came to that I'd rather Cassius Cleaves got the occasional
chance.

Next season might be a little too soon. But certainly with
possible academy contracts for Cleaves and Slevin next year, and
Oresanya the year after, we have a lot of talent coming through
in the back three.

For me his defensive weaknesses outweigh his attacking
strengths. If we are short in that position, I'd rather a
reliable player until we can give some of the academy lads a
chance. We already have a lot of talent in the backs.

I liked him as a player and his defence could be worked on but
would I take him back, probably not now. Undoubted ability but
he would have been better off staying with us and working on his
game IMO. He would have has several games this season had and
could have really developed but seems he wanted to take the
money and run, which is his choice but maybe not the best long
term move. He needs to be playing regularly now so would think
he's better off joining a club where he'll get plenty of game
time and work on his defensive game.

I think Earle will leave which will be a shame brings so much
both sides of the ball but his injuries have been frequent and
lengthy I also sure they’ve taken there toll on him. I also
think he hobbled off on Saturday to add to his misfortune. If
we’re interested in Gabs I’d bring him back on a deal that
favoured the club maybe an incremental increase based on
appearances and success. Certainly let’s not go cap in hand to
him more the other way.

No thanks. Great broken field runner but below average in every
other aspect of the game. As others have mentioned, in Green,
Lynagh, Murley and David we have plenty of better young(ish)
options already.
Plus we need to address hooker and back row recruitment before
considering a back three signing.

This is not in any way an attempt to imply knowledge of the
specifics of this case, but I do think it’s worth being careful
about criticisms over chasing cash. People can be under
economic, family and cultural pressures around their income
which are quite different from what many of us experience and
aren’t readily apparent from the outside.
It’s also worth noting that Gabs, on his first pro contract out
of the academy, but also the top try scorer in the league and
(at the time) practically a one-man attack plan for Quins, had
reason to be disproportionately disappointed by the cost
reduction measures deployed after lockdown.

His exit from Quins was not well handled and going to Agen was
only ever about the money. He must have known they were
relegation fodder and I doubt he went for the region’s famous
prunes.
Not sure about Agen, but their president clearly wasn’t a fan.
As far as I can tell, he was only ever intended to be a
short-term signing for Montpellier.
In hindsight, signing Ashton was a mistake that brought no
positives and directly contributed to Ibitoye leaving. However,
Ibitoye really didn’t help himself either. If he’d stayed, he’d
likely have done well in the post-Gustard era (he always did
well for Gustard - I mean that he’d likely profit more from our
current style of play than he ever did when he was here).
If it were a choice between the post injury version of Earle and
Ibitoye, I’d take the latter ... Earle just isn’t the player he
was and might not ever get back to that level. Ibitoye has raw
talent and still has time to work on the inferior aspects of his
game.

Have to say I’m completely opposite I’d take Earle over gabs
anyday he offers so much more, sadly injury has held him back.
