There is a statement from Slade on the Chiefs board if anyone
knows how to fetch and carry it.🐶

       Passing it on to whom?
Covid with no vaccination killed 100k people in a year. Flu
with vaccination kills around 20k people per year.
Covid vaccines are around 80% or more effective. Flu vaccines
range between 10-60% effective depending on the year, and
       average out at 40%.
We've now vaccinated the vast majority of those at risk from
Covid, so there is every reason to expect that next winter, 'flu
will kill more people than Covid.
Your statement is a perfectly fair one to make, but why for
       Covid, not for 'flu?

"Following an article in today’s Telegraph newspaper, I would
like to make the following statement.
The comments attributed to me in regards to the Covid-19
vaccination form a very small part of an exclusive interview I
had with the newspaper, which was set up to talk about living
       with Type-1 diabetes.
Not only as a professional sportsman, but also a person who has
to closely monitor my health levels every day, I am acutely
aware of the importance of vaccines and the role it plays in
       helping save lives.
From my own personal experience, I have encountered issues in
the past with the use of vaccines and I am continually wary
around this area. That said, I have no hidden agenda against the
current, nationwide roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccination
       programme.
When the time comes for me to make an informed decision on
whether or not I take up the option of having the vaccination, I
will of course consider the thoughts of my family and friends,
the latest Government advice, as well as all others around me.
In no way whatsoever am I offering advice to the general public
as to the pros and cons of the vaccination programme, everyone
has a right to their own opinion on this matter, but given my
past experiences, I wish to make the correct decision for
       myself."

       because we're talking about Covid
I don't buy the 'I'm a grown up and can make my own decision'
       argument.
Having spent the last 15 months working with and among covid
       victims and their families, and 35 years working with flu;
vaccination remains the only exit strategy at present - as it
did with smallpox, measles, rubella diphtheria etc etc. Many
people just don't want a flu jab despite the numbers that die
       each year.
Hopefully the public will now get on board the flu vaccination
program, however this year presents a problem as there has been
so little world wide flu that the vaccine manufacturers have
       little to work on.

That's interesting. Do you have a view on why that might be?
Has Covid more rapidly killed those who might've otherwise died
of 'flu? Have significant proportions of 'flu deaths actually
       been misdiagnosed as Covid?

It's perfectly rational. The truth is there is no reason good
enough to not have a vaccine when all pros and cons are weighed
up, but when issues on this scale arise we just see the worst
personality traits in some people come out. In other words, the
'I know better' brigade. That's all it's about.

which bit - public inertia re flu? We have huge issues getting
even 2/3 of vulnerable adults vaccinated. Most respond that they
never get flu - similar to those who would never get covid - yet
the covid customers end up in a mortuary or with life changing
illness potentially. Yes, most youngsters have no issues, but
they can be the vectors that do the spreading. Another belief is
that vaccines give the illness - despite being lumps of dead
       virus.
As far as flu this winter, WHO tracks flu in community and helps
predict the flu strains that will be around in particular parts
of the world at a given time, we tend to follow Australia - who
have no flu this year. Hence predicting what is coming our way
       is more difficult.

BB yes, masks = no flu transmisison
Very much a big yes, covid has killed huge swathes of people who
would have survived flu, and leaves those with frailty who
       survive huge ongoing problems

You're part of the I know better crowd! And I'm not saying that
because of the side you're on I'm saying it because of the
       language you've been using.
Your GM food argument was a strawman. Irrational.
Your appeal to the exception rather than the rule, regarding the
risk to young fit people, was also irrational.
