Like many I will be gutted if Mike's days as a Quin are over &
we're unable to give him a good send off, but regardless of his
unblemished record I'd find it hard to see the panel changing
their minds in their judgement that
"he accepted the charge at the earliest opportunity and
impressed the Panel with his honesty and obvious contrition
throughout the hearing. The panel had no hesitation in allowing
the maximum mitigation of 50%."

If he knew that Taylor's head was there then it's not an
accident - it's either deliberate foul play or an accident, in
order for something to be reckless it needs to be an action that
someone could reasonably expect to have negative consequences,
you can't judge the action by the action by the result of what
ends up happening but what the balance of the probability was
before it was performed. So either Mike knew the head was there
or he didn't.

Well he clearly knew - he looked at it then leant on him when he
got up before he stood on his head.
He's a very lucky man.

I'm not disputing that - I said at the time that I thought he
meant to tread on Taylor but probably not on the head. But my
point is in relation to the judgement I can't see how they
should be able to find it reckless if its deemed to be
accidental.

I'm not sure anyone's deemed it to be accidental.
I think the recklessness comes from the fact that Mike could
have made sure there was no chance of treading on Taylor,
especially on his head. But he didn't.

There was mitigation; they halved the ban.
