He doesn't his actions were reckless and potentially life
changing (luckily for Mike that wasn't the case)

if it’s deemed accidental then how is it reckless? He’s got to
put foot somewhere, it’s not as if standing up is generally a
risky action that warrants a degree of caution.
I know you can make the case that he needs to aware of Taylor
is, but if he’s genuinely made a mistake it’s not reckless.

Mike could do a “John Terry” and turn up in his kit at the
Newcastle game. Hopefully there will be an on-field
presentation on the day pitch side so we can give him a good
farewell. Which will be more than Chris Robshaw was able to
       receive.
I’d add that in football the ban would probably only be three
weeks for a reckless tackle. The band handed out in rugby seem
to be inordinately harsh and over the top.

Every time you step on a rugby field that action is potentially
       life changing.
To say a player doesn't deserve to step out on the field in
front of the fans for one last time after eighteen years of
service due to one reckless incident says far more about you
than him. And it says nothing good.

Yes but you don't expect it from thuggish behaviour from an
opponent. Wouldn't matter if he had played 1 game or 300 games,
there is no place for behaviour like that in any sport.

Point of Order! Yes, Order not Ordure.
MB has never been Red Carded before. For someone deemed ASBO I
       find that very key.

I'm not sure you can call it thuggish behaviour when the panel
have deemed unintentional albeit reckless. What they mean is he
should have taken more care when stepping backwards. To denounce
him for an accidental act after all his service to the club and
claim he doesn't deserve to receive any recognition from fans is
       incredible.

Isn't that the point though? It's either thuggish or accidental
       - it can't be both?

I doubt an appeal will be successful, they wont want to be seen
to being too lenient on boot to head contact especially with the
focus on player welfare and concussions.
Its a shame he wont run out again for Quins but 'if' we win the
final he has still earnt his winner medal and deserves applause.
All I can say is thank you Mike for the 99.67% (1 out of 300
isn't half bad really) of memories of you playing for Quins and
all the best for your new chapter at Newcastle, our loss is
       their gain.

It was neither; it was reckless.
