Our best season in 8 years and could get better
DIR By: SwindonQuin

So far were on track for the best season we have had at Quins in
the league since 2013/14 and we may well exceed that year as
well based on total league points:
2011/12 = 75 (1st & Champions)
2012/13 = 69 (3rd & lost semi final)
2013/14 = 67 (4th & lost semi final)
2014/15 = 49 (8th)
2015/16 = 55 (7th)
2016/17 = 52 (6th)
2017/18 = 36 (10th)
2018/19 = 56 (5th)
2019/20 = 51 (6th)
2020/21 = 59 (with 4 games to go) (4th)
On track for our first semi final in 7 years! Hopes are high!

Hope I’m not counting chickens, but I reckon that we should get
enough points from the last four games to reach the semifinals.
Only thing is, would we prefer to finish third or fourth?
My feeling is that a trip to Sandy Park would be preferable to
Ashton Gate, but either way COYQ!!

Crikey! if we win all remaining games with a BP, we'd actually
get more points than when we won it and still only finish
3rd/4th. Shows how much it's changed in those intervening years.
I suppose we only had 5 BPs that season though.

I think this weekend's results pretty much settles the top four
race. Saints will need to win three out of four with bonus point
wins plus us slipping up badly... as you say let's not count
chickens just yet but its looking good!
I think I'd rather play Bristol than Exeter in a semi final. Not
much in it but Exeter are seasoned winners and have that big
game experience.

I'd rather play Sale - if we win all our games and Sale beat Exe
without the latter getting an LBP, then its possible we could
finish second - unlikely, but possible.
We have to beat Sale away to harden and acclimatise our team for
the semis...

Injuries and suspensions could be costly if / when we make the
playoffs. Yesterday's win, with Saints slipping up, has given us
some decent wiggle room, so we should be ok for the playoffs,
even if we fall over the line. I think there's another weekend
off for European finals, so another week for injured players to
get fit, but that won't help Andre or Mike.
At least we have a run of games to give a replacement 12 and 15
a chance to play themselves in

I think you need to look at one game at a time, Tigers at
Welford Road is not a gimmee this year.

And if we win all of ours, we could be 2nd - especially as we
play Chiefs and Quins.
The AJBell game has so much hanging on it. It should be a real
clash of styles. Our stifling defence v your balls out run
everything. Even being down a man (or two!) doesn't seem to
alter how either team plays.
That said, perhaps that's where both teams are falling down.
Quins have scored as many tries as Chiefs and Bristol but
conceded 20 more. Sale have conceded as few as the other two but
scored 20 fewer.
Exciting, isn't it!

Yes, definitely. But 9 points ahead of Sale and 2 home games
left, you'd hope we can get enough points to see us home. Not
taking any games for granted, as our last two wins have hardly
been convincing. Playing the full 80 minutes with 15 players
would be a good start.

IF and that's big if obviously, that was to happen I think we
could even get second spot!
