Well, this is an object lesson in how in the heat of the moment
people can forget all that stuff in the Rules of the Forum about
not swearing, treat each other with respect, play the ball not
       the man etc...
I'm not going to shut this thread yet, there may yet be sensible
discussion on what exactly happened, what the wiggle room is for
refs if heads are involved, what punishment is due/deserved
etc... but the game will be that much further in the past
tomorrow, so a bit more light and a bit less heat please?

Even a parrot with its beak wired closed would convict him -
hard to excuse and so dreadful to have watched...

It is very hard to excuse what happened - Browns history is
irrelevant. It was reckless and had a Wasps (or any other)
player done this to a Quins player, you'd all be thermo-nuclear.
It looks bad and was bad. Shameful way to go out. We all love
       Brownie, but...
You could tell by the way he reacted that he'd transgressed
       reasonable behavior.

Thought it was accidental, commentary team also did
       Reckless,deserved a rec without a doubt
       But Mike is no thug

I agree he's not a thug, but I would argue that the commentary
team thought it was accidental - at first they did, but on
seeing the other angles, they thought it was hard to see how it
       was totally accidental...

Having watched the highlights, I think it was more likely
accidental, especially when viewed from the main long-range
camera angle; looks to me like he's stumbling and loses his
footing. The close up angle looks like as soon as he felt
contact he lifted his foot back up. I guess we see what we want
to see, maybe I'm seeing it through multicoloured/Brown-tinted
spectacles. Interesting to see what if anything Taylor says
about it. After 400+ club and international matches without a
similar incident, it would be very odd to have a red mist
moment, especially with play-offs in sight.

With time passed and calmed, it had to be a red as the players
have a duty of care where they place their feet. But I don't
believe it was intentional and looked like instinct to get a
foot down when off balance. MB looked distraught realising how
it appeared, also a try chalked off, the implications for the
team and his possible future involvement this season. Hopefully
it will be treated as low end and we have a chance to see him
again in a Quins shirt, if not, thank you Mike for all your
       efforts.

He is in a very difficult position tho . Plead guilty and he
gets a severe sanction as it’s a major offence . Plead not
guilty , and we all know what a kangaroo court it is and he will
       get a longer ban . .

Mid range for incident is 6 weeks - plead guilty and don’t touch
the biscuits and he could be back for Newcastle at home on the
final (regular) day of the season.

Exactly right, I honestly don't believe it was intentional (but
it was still a red). However even if you are of the view it was
a red mist moment how many other players have done this and been
welcomed back into the side after doing their time (van
       esturhuizen twice this season already)?
Some of the comments about being glad to see the back of Mike
are disgraceful given the service he's given to the club. It was
one game and it wasn't like it was a cup final. I really hope
this wasn't his last game in a Quins shirt.
