I feel like it might be a sign of the age skew on this board but
social media is something a lot of these players have grown up
with. It's almost like saying "don't have a phone" - though not
       quite like that.

suggesting that people come off social media to avoid abuse is
similar to suggesting that other people change their reasonable
behaviour to avoid criminal behaviour. Victim blaming
essentially. Of course people should be careful in how they go
about their lives and I, as a 6 foot 2, 15ish stone bloke,
wouldn't walk through certain areas at night, but the focus
should be on addressing the unpleasant elements in society
rather than imposing restrictions on the law abiding people.

Fair enough T-Bone, but the way it was explained wasn't
immediately clear but I see what you mean now.

clearly get some benefits from it that I assume you don't get (I

Again no one said they had to give up SM. They shouldn't have to
avoid SM if they don't want to. That's the thing about advice -
you can take it or leave it.
I'll leave it there as it's a bit like banging your head against
a brick wall when people interpret posts as what they would like
them to have said to support their argument rather than what
       they actually said.

It makes a bold statement, but will have little effect, unless
the platforms take action, and let’s hope they do

Its a nice gesture, but that's all it is.
Social media outlets are essentially a consequence free platform
for anyone to say anything they want with little to no
       repercussions.
It wont change in the short or medium turn as in the case of
racism it has been stirred up nicely by all side over the last
       couple of years.
