he probably didn't think it was worth a red card - but he's not
the first player to try and make out something didn't happen
after the fact and he won't be the last. Leo Cullen springs to
       mind.

I've watched it a few times, and I'm not convinced. There's
just as much chance of Rona's head going back because Andre
pulls him forward again by the shirt as there is because he made
contact with it. With Rona saying he didn't make contact with
his head, they could've very easily said there was no case to
answer, but with everything being so politically highly charged
at the moment around risk of head injuries, I'm not surprised
       that they didn't.

I honestly think with losing Andre and Evans our season is now
100x harder and don't think Quins will hold 4th. Would love to
be proved wrong but I just cannot see how Quins hold out. Andre
takes so much pressure off Smith and is a massive go forward for
us with the ability to break and offload. I just don't see
Laiske or Benny Taps offering the same. Northmore has been
carving teams recently so hopefully he can step in.

Esterhuizen for the red card against gloucester 4 weeks of
disqualification, for the one against LI 6 weeks, total 10 weeks
in a league of 22 games, so almost 50% of absence due to
suspensions, if I were the society I would take away the 50%
of his salary , I am convinced that afterwards he will be more
       careful.
Exceptional player, but sometimes he doesn't use his brain.
P.s.: In 2017 he took 6 weeks of disqualification for a
standstill tackle when playing for the Sharks.

Might have helped if Rona hadn't asked the AR if he'd seen it
and indicated there'd been contact with his face.

There's a video of him hitting the guy in the face, that's
pretty good evidence. The RFU don't employ him, and they haven't
sacked him either - he's still getting his wages. Not getting
bonuses because he's contravened the laws isn't really a
       problem.
Honestly, if this was Rona whacking Andre in the face, this
thread would have taken a very different tone.

Totally agree. Andre knows the laws and he knows what he was
doing, which is why he tried to disguise it by pulling Rona
towards his forearm by his shirt. There's no mitigation for this
one or the last one. Just plain stupidity.
I've no doubt whatsoever that he's a nice bloke and I'm a big
fan of what he's brought to the club but he's tried two cheap
shots (not even very good ones) and they've rightly landed him
red cards and suspensions each time.
I have no doubt he'll learn from this though and have every
faith he won't repeat the trick for a third time.

It’s impossible to know if it was intentional or not so seems
strange to claim it was ‘definitely intentional’. It also looks
to me like he catches him with his forearm. So I think to ban
him for intentionally striking with the elbow is, well, just
       wrong.
But that said, he shouldn’t have put himself in that situation.
It was a moment of complete stupidity. Get in a scuffle and you
are running the risk. Once is forgivable, twice is idiotic. If
he does it again I would show him the door.

You just can't do that these days. Unfortunately it's just one
we'll have to cop and hope that Andre finally learns from his
mistakes. He'd probably have got away with it in the middle of
the melee but not in an isolated scuffle as it was.

It's clearly intentional. He's pulling his shirt and then raises
one forearm so he can pull him towards it and strike with it at
       the same time.
       Was it hard? No.
       Was it particularly dangerous? No.
Was he trying to disguise it? Yes.
       Has he failed miserably? Yes.

The infographic is wrong - the judgment says "striking with the
arm" and talks about the forearm, not the elbow.
