André Esterhuizen

Given his red yesterday, is it likely he will play again this
season, especially given his red for a similar incident away at
Gloucester? Or will he be given a significant ban?

I don't know how they judge these issues, but it was a tussle
between two players not in open play - it wasn't his elbow but
his forearm as both players pulled each others shirts - admit
that it was wrong to over-react and hope they are lenient.
Dallaglio thought the red card was a bit rough and that a yellow
would have sufficed, but then he's/was a roughly-toughty No 8
and unless you've had ear/nose bitten off, its not really that
bad.

Barnes also thought in commentary that a yellow would've
sufficed. That said even with contrition the previous incident
will count against him. I'd say the likely result is that he
won't be available for the rest of the regular season but could
be free to play in the Semis/Final

I’m expecting it to be a fair ban given his previous this
season. You just can’t put your arms anywhere near the head. I
think he’ll be best of pleading guilty, saying sorry and not
eating any hobnobs.
I’m still amazed after the melee where the initial focus was the
ruckus involving Symo that they forgot all about that and
focused solely on AE’s wide incident. Blair Cowan looked to be
being a naughty boy in the footage I saw of that as well as Symo
and his friend having a cuddle on the ground. I was expecting a
yellow a piece for all that but Carley decided against it!

Hopefully it will just be a week or two, or they may even deem
the red punishment enough.

If you look at it - the Irish player was also flapping his
hands in Andre's face prior to the shove. And that's all it was
a shove. Sometimes common sense has to prevail?

If such a bad attack, why did Rona not get a mandatory HIA? I
can live with the card but if the ref thinks it’s that bad,
where is the player welfare? If it’s not that bad, yellow card.

I am feeling worried about it to be honest. I think his ban was
4 or 5 weeks last time. This incident was way less severe and
was possibly unintentional. However, the bottom line is that it
is a second incident of elbow to face in a season.
I hope they recognise that it wasn't severe (3 weeks) but then
only add on a week for 'repeated' offence. I also hope they
include the European weekends which means he only misses two
games.
I am doing a lot of hoping!!!!
It is really frustrating because he is a great player and he
doesn't need to get involved in this nonsense. He will be
missed. I am gutted that we rose to their wind-up tactics.
Carley's attitude does not help the general mood of a match
either, I am afraid to say. I think all of the other refs do a
great job and are an important part of making each game
enjoyable. Less so with him, I am afraid.

Because it doesn't matter how much damage you do. Don't
deliberately hit people in the face!

I'm not sure if that's how it works - it surely refers to games
that you could have played in (and since we're not in the Euro
2nd Div Cup, they are not relevant), otherwise bans at the end
of the season would be pointless.
