Brown further opens up on events leading to departure

The former England full back has now gone into further detail on
       Rugbypass Offload
  HTML https://www.rugbydump.com/news/watch-brown-further-opens-up-on-events-leading-to-surprise-harlequins-departure/about<br
/>the reasons why he was not offered a new contract and why he
       was
       upset with the club.
Not a lot new here. Obviously the club weren't happy with his
last interview. Reading between the lines I get the impression
they talked to him about loyalty to the club and rugby values
that meant he shouldn't have done it. MB quite rightly says
loyalty is a two way street, it's just he didn't get the memo
when the club turned from loyalty to players to just being a
       business.

Wonder what his agent was doing?
Leaving it to December to finally find out not required for next
season when discussions started back in previous March. With all
discussions around by pay cuts etc seems strange.
MB is right though two way street. Players have short career and
if they want to leave to make more money then loyalty should not
       be branded about.

Think Mike should stop talking to the press now! This isn’t
doing anyone any good and he’s certainly not coming across very
well himself, especially talking about private goings so
publicly. The club is bigger than one player, however important
he (think he) is. It’s not all about you Mike.

I think with the way the Club handled the situation Mike has
every right to speak out. I am glad that he now seems able in
his mind to move on. Thanks for posting

Yes - the club has handled this very badly. Yes, Mike had a
right to respond. But who does he’s continued crying to the
       press help?

Well Dalrymple certainly in my mind did not help the situation
with the length of time he took to make any sort of statement.
When he did make a statement it was just a few words after a
whole lot of mumble jumble about how wonderful the Club is.
Certainly did not put the matter to bed for me.

Think Mike has every reason to air his opinion, and maybe wanted
to say further after what Laurie said
Club keep going on about 350 caps, club legends etc
       Should have been treated better
Also the way he was treated probably has a lot to do with why
Baldwin has left as both good mates

I think Baldwin left because he wants to be closer to home,
       (well thats what he said)

Did you know this as a fact, or have you just guessed about this
to have another pop at the club, especially given Baldwin has
stated he wanted to move closer to Wales for family reasons?

He also tried, reportedly, to go back on the move to Worcester
after PG had left so I suspect it was a mix of reasons. Baldwin,
32, is heading towards 'final contract' time so why spend it in
an unhappy camp (if he had been offered an extension) seeing the
way a local hero (MB) had been treated; also at the time Quins
were a shadow of the team they are now - I know it is all the
same season but seems to be a light/shade type of year between
PG and post-PG. This season he is also coming back from injury
which can focus the mind on how easily a career can be finished
       in professional sport by injury.
To both Mike and Scott, very sorry you are going but hope it all
works well in the future (except when you return to the Stoop)
and the moves bring you a happy finish.
