So.......

....is this a bad day at the office or is fatigue catching up on
us now?
Evans looks like he'll be out for a few weeks minimum, Ester has
fallen foul of another brain fart and will miss a minimum of 4
games, probably. Brown had his worst game so far and along with
Care looked tired and a bit ragged. Smith had a quiet game on
the whole. Dombrandt having less of an impact across the 80
mins.
On the plus side Kenningham, Murley and Northmore are playing
well. Do we play Northmore in for Ester or go with Lasike for
the collisions? Accepting that 12 & 13 are different position's
of course.
A week off now and then see what the next starting XV looks
like.

We are not going to play well every week. I thought Irish stuck
to their game plan well tbh. Niggle, wind us up etc. We fell
into the trap but stuck it out. It's a tough place to go.
Nice rest coming up, hopefully Chis back. We have a few options
which is always nice.
The pressure is off us. No one gave us a chance earlier in the
season.

I thought/hoped we would kick on for a big score in the second
half but Irish dragged us down to their level. We will be
smarter and not be baited in the future.
Kenningham will come in for WEv and do well, although WEv is a
huge loss. The question is how to replace Esterhuizen. I think
he was still banned for the Wasps away game, when we were
sensational, but I could be wrong. The point being we can win
without him (I think!)
We have a couple of weeks to make something sexy out of a
Marchant and Northmore centre partnership. Lasike also is a
viable option. Taps also offers us some decent hands and
defence.
It's a shame that Sale and Saints managed to squeeze over the
line too!
Ultimately, I am proud of the boys today. We have seen so many
of those types of games go against us.

Just checked. Esterhuizen did play against Wasps.
We can still win without him, though!

Given we were down to 14 for the last 30 mins, and our turnover
king was off the field, I thought we played really.
Comittment from everyone was there to see. ( on the 2 LI tries,
it was Louw and Joe sprinting back,to attempt the cover tackles
in the corner).
I disagree about the above comments on Danny and Mike, in fact
Danny was my MOTM.
Apart from Northmore's superb cameo, Collier,Grey and Lewies
were fantastic when they came on.
This is a really good squad developing here, and I really don't
understand some of the earlier criticisms/observations.

Whilst the grunt absence leans towards Lasike, I don’t think
he’s been that impressive in his limited cameos. Taps is fairly
forgettable for his contributions starting, so I would opt for
Lang and Marchant in the centres. It’s tempting to have
Northmore start but I think his off the bench X factor is
better to have to change a game, which he did today.

I’d definitely consider this, albeit it does change how we might
attack. But then again, having to make a change at 12 will do
this anyway whoever is picked!

If Chisholm isn’t fit for the next game I’d also be tempted to
go with a back row of -

Well Maggiephilquin that's the beauty of sites like this, it's
all about opinion. You've seen more than me which is great as it
could just be my eyes.
Brown was good at supporting the breakdown but missed a few
tackles. Danny made a good tackle on the oppo 9 and did the
basics well but wasn't a threat really. Smith, great finish but
where was the control and little creative things we've seen
recently? We're also lucky that the Nots didn't take the points
on two occasions in the last 15 minutes and opted for the
line-out.
I'll take the scrappy win of course but hope, as referenced
before, we just allowed ourselves to get dragged down to their
level rather than starting to run out of steam at the wrong
time.
