I seem to recall that in a recent video from Laurie the role was
mentioned as a Head Coach rather than a DoR. Maybe Billy is
enjoying having some input into the playing side of things and
the club feel they need more of a HC to help manage/oversee the
day-to-day coaching with BM looking after mid to longer term
strategic decisions. The board will have seen how the current
setup have steadied the ship & helped to get the squad energised
& playing to their strengths. Hopefully they'll see that as a
template & want to build from there rather than going full-on
reshuffle mode.

Without fully appreciating what the board's directive for how
the present system of NEv-Jones-Flannery will be managed it is
very hard to gauge who they may be looking for or what their
remit will be; what I do know is they won't be listening to us!
Not that that should or indeed, will, stop us speculating...

Head Coach vs DoR is probably quite a subtle change anyway -
with the split between GM and DoR a lot of traditional DoR
duties went to the GM, and I suspect the DoR title was as much
about making it enticing for PG as anything else. However,
making it clear that it's a Head Coach role may be a way of
ensuring that the candidate doesn't get too big for their boots,
or it may reflect wanting to position them as one of a group
with the foursome rather than definitely above them.
I really hope (and expect) that the foursome themselves have
been consulted on this and will have sign off on whoever comes
in. I would say that the thing we need most in the new
appointment is someone who can develop them and challenge /
support them in solving the coaching problems that come up
rather than someone who will want to impose their own style.

Billie on the Zoom meeting last week said we are looking for a
HEAD Coach. Billie is not involved in coaching and will be
working on projects in the future once the appointment is made.
But they are looking for somebody to compliment the existing set
up.

I'd be surprised if he came over before the Sharks play the
welsh Lions. You only get that opportunity once maybe twice and
I'd be surprised if he missed it. Maybe he'll come in in August
and bed in before taking over fully at Christmas once he's found
his place in the coaching setup.
Unusal I know but these are unusual times.
