Northmore was superb when he came on, certainly an interesting
selection decision in the centres. There was such a lack of
panic from when we won the scrum, to the kick to the corner, to
the excellent line out and maul, to the pass to Marcus and his
hot knife through butter act. The kind of play that the Munster
teams of Jerry Flannery era would’ve executed in the dying
moments.
Quick glance at the Irish board - they don’t like Carley and
their sub loose head Elrington is getting a battering, as is
Nick Phipps. Personally I thought Jackson was poor too but I’lll
admit I don’t have a lot of time for the guy anyway.

Marchant really stepped up when we went down to 14, actually.
Seemed to be everywhere, won a lot of loose ball, chased and
harried, and made a lot of heavy carries.
Thought Brown defensively was surprisingly bad, some very soft
tackles. He waved Loader through a few times. Early stats have
him making one and missing four, which is far from ideal!

Phipps and Jackson are both prone to big gaffes. Jackson makes a
lot of errors and did so again today, his management of the
final quarter was pretty dreadful. Carley hurt them several
times with some baffling calls, particularly re: knock-ons. The
guy's awful.

As for selection next week, I think we might see Lasike in,
giving us the hard muscle at 12. Personally while I thought
Marchant played well, I think Northmore deserves to start.

Shows how much I know!
Seeing Carley as the ref mid-week made me gulp. We had him on
side at times but a bit of petulance lost it at times too. We
need to keep the referee sweet, which we have been doing so much
better recently.
The character of the boys to get that win was wonderful. I am so
proud. Irish made some sloppy mistakes but we took full
advantage. Especially at scrum time. This is particularly
pleasing after the frustrating last few minutes away to Briz, Ex
and Falcons. The boys will take a lot if heart from that, as
should we.
Gutted for Will Evans. He has been sensational. Also gutted for
André. Who has also been sensational. In both cases, I hope
their return will not be too far away. Kenningham will do well
as a replacement 7. Lasike at 12 keeps our game plan but I like
the thought of Marchant and Northmore in tandem in the centre!
Congratulations Quins. Phew!!!!

Agreed, I've never seen the fuss with Jackson, he's gaffe prone
and is pretty average from the tee too.
Carley is awful, his attitude always seems confrontational, he
lets niggle go far too often and that develops into the type of
situations we saw with the AE red as frustrations boil over. He
does also seem to make those "What on earth???" calls more often
than other refs.
Still just relieved we didn't let that all go to bits after the
red.

The foot-soldiers deserve as many plaudits as the
superstars....that last long throw from Gray was exceptional!

North more to start, Lasike on the bench.
I had stopped reading this thread at half time and only just
returned (having watched last 3 minutes several times over);
jolly funny reading the retractions made by some posters. Just
like players have to play the full 80, as do fans...

Credit to the boys. Often accused of being mentally weak and
flaking, they hung tough and took their opportunity at the
death. Great stuff. Irish should’ve been out of sight by that
point but not our problem.
Carley seemingly did his best to ruin the game. Loves the sound
of his own voice.
Suspect we’ll see Taps at 12, although I’d be tempted to go with
Northmore and Marchant. Lasike’s defensive position just can’t
be trusted.
