       NICK DAVID SIGNS FOR HARLEQUINS
  HTML https://www.quins.co.uk/news/harlequins-sign-nick-david-from-worcester-warriors/
       Monday, 19th April 2021 @ 12:00
HARLEQUINS IS DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THAT EXCITING OUTSIDE BACK
NICK DAVID WILL JOIN THE CLUB AHEAD OF THE 2021/22 SEASON.
Making his breakthrough with Worcester this season the
22-year-old is currently second in the Premiership for clean
breaks (22), fifth in the for metres made (732) and eighth for
defenders beaten having played just twelve games so far this
       campaign.
Debuting in the Premiership in the 2019/20 season with a
try-scoring performance against Bath Rugby, the Redditch-born
outside back rose through the ranks playing in the Premiership
Cup, A-League and Sevens competitions before featuring for
Worcester in the Gallagher Premiership and European Challenge
       Cup.
Excited to begin the next chapter in his career, David said:
“I’m really excited to have signed with Harlequins. It’s a club
with an impressive history and I’m looking forward to pulling on
       the Famous Quarters.
       Nick David
“I was thrilled to hear that Harlequins were interested in
signing me. I feel my playing style and the attributes of my
game are well-suited to the traditional Quins brand of rugby,
and I’m looking forward to playing that style alongside a few
friends in Marcus Smith, Cadan Murley, George Head and Simon
       Kerrod.
“While I’m looking forward to starting the next chapter with
Quins, I want to thank everyone at Worcester Warriors for their
help and support throughout the early part of my career.
“I feel like this is the best step for my career progression and
can’t wait to make my debut at The Stoop when the fans are back
       in stadiums cheering us on.”
Commenting, Harlequins Attack and Backs Coach Nick Evans said:
“It’s fantastic to have Nick signing on to join our journey as a
Club. He’s caught the attention of Premiership fans this season
with the type of instinctive attacking rugby that we believe
will suit our style of play.
“He’s a guy with a promising career path ahead of him. We’re
delighted that he will be taking the next step in his rugby with
Harlequins, adding to a backline filled with talented outside
       backs.”

Happy with this. Really impressed by what I’ve seen from Nick
David and looks like a good fit for the squad.

Yes I think you have a good prospect. David got his chance
when Heward was injured and I guess at the time we preferd to
re-sign him rather than David. Time will tell whether it was
       the correct decsison.
I think the majority of Wuss supporters would prefer Nic David
to Ashton but there you go , it is not the only thing we don't
       understand at Sixways.

Very good signing for me, been one of the few bright sparks from
Worcester this season. Could be an inspired signing to replace
Brown and it sounds like playing 15 is the reason why he is
leaving from the below statement in the Worcester press release:
“David, a product of the Three Pears Warriors Academy, has been
recruited by Harlequins challenge for the number 15 jersey.
“We are sorry to see Nick leave the club, but fully understand
the opportunity which he has at Harlequins to play in his
favoured position of full-back,” said Warriors Director of Rugby
       Alan Solomons.

Not exactly a surprise, but nice to have it confirmed. We've got
a lot of real talent in our outside backs, and most of it is at
that "just below international" standard that is the sweet spot
       for performance.

I don't know anything about him, but from what has been written
on here he sounds like a good prospect and the sort of player
       who'd fit in well

Nic has played much better on the wing, see his performance at
Bath when at 15 where he has a lot to learn , that is probaly
       Quins plan.
At 15 we have a brighter prospect in Heward so maybe that is
why the decsison was made. Would have liked to have kept him as
Wing/15 but best of luck ot him.

Yeah, I think he looks better on the wing but I haven’t seen
enough of him at 15 to really judge. He has a bit more height
than Green but not sure about his ability under a high
       ball/kicking game?

And that's the key for me, QC. There is no replacement for Mike
Brown but if he's good under the high ball that'll work for me.
He clearly has pace. If he can break through the first tackle,
       that's just a bonus.

A welcome & good signing and one for the future as much as the
present with years in front of him,and that's no disrespect to
Mike Brown who's playing as good as he ever & wish nothing but
the best at his new club next season.
