HARLEQUINS COACHING GROUP HAS NAMED A MUCH-CHANGED TEAM AS THE
CLUB WELCOME WORCESTER WARRIORS TO THE STOOP FOR THE RETURN OF
GALLAGHER PREMIERSHIP ACTION
There are 13 changes in the starting XV, with back row Tom
Lawday and outside back Tyrone Green the only players retaining
starting roles from the Club’s Challenge Cup defeat against
Ulster.
Back row Alex Dombrandt returns to captain the side from number
eight as Lawday shifts to blindside flanker, while an
all-international front row of Joe Marler, Scott Baldwin and
Wilco Louw all return up front.
Danny Care and Marcus Smith are restored in the halfback
department, fresh off the back of Premiership Player of the
Month awards for March and February respectively.
Commenting, Harlequins Lineout and Defence Coach Jerry Flannery
said: “We’ve had a good chance to rest and reassess over the
last fortnight after some disappointment in defeat to Ulster.
“As a Club we are in a good place at the moment and we’re
looking forward to taking a few of the learnings we’ve picked up
over the last two months into the business end of the season.
“Worcester are a team that like to play. We respect that, it’s
very much part of our DNA as well. This weekend we’re looking
forward to fronting up from a defensive and tactical standpoint,
as well as with the type of attacking instinct we’ve displayed
in recent months.”

Strong team and bench.
Great to see Evans back at 7. He is my Player of the season for
me so far.
Surprised to see Marchant starting at 13. Northmore has looked
in prime form at the moment. As others have said, great to have
competition at 13.
I don't underestimate any team in the Prem, however, if we are
serious about a top 4 finish and try to win the Prem, we need to
be dispatching the Warriors.

Shame that Chis is back on the injury list but Lawday put in a
good performance against Ulster so happy to see him get a start.
Looking forward to seeing Kenningham play again, so far he’s
really put himself about in his appearances. Interesting that
Collier has replaced Kerrod on the bench.

From the Warriors website...
Warriors wing Alex Hearle will make his first Gallagher
Premiership appearance of the season against Harlequins at The
Stoop on Saturday (kick-off 5.00pm).
Hearle, who recently signed a contract extension, will start in
the absence of the suspended Chris Ashton and the injured Tom
Howe who took a bang to the hip during last week’s training
match against Bristol Bears.
It will be Hearle’s first start since the European Rugby
Challenge Cup match against Pau in December and his first
appearance in the Premiership since August.
Jamie Shillcock will start at full-back and South Africa
international Francois Venter will partner Ollie Lawrence in the
centre in the other changes to the back division that faced
Northampton Saints in Warriors‘ last competitive match three
weeks ago.
In the pack, Graham Kitchener returns to make his 99th
appearance for the club and to form a new second row pairing
with Joe Batley.
Batley started at number eight against Northampton before
switching to the second row. His place in the middle of the back
row is taken by the experienced GJ van Velze.
Tighthead prop Richard Palframan and lock Anton Bresler have
recovered from injuries and have been named among the
replacements along with wing/full-back Harri Doel who is set to
make his Premiership debut.
Doel,20, has been signed on loan from Scarlets having also
represented Wales Under-20s and played for Llandovery and
Swansea University.

Panicked for a second there when I read 'HARLEQUINS COACHING
GROUP HAS NAMED A MUCH-CHANGED TEAM' but thank god what they
mean is 'regular team returns after rest against Ulster' !!!
Really need to take 5pts from this, and if normal service
resumes we really should.....

Looking forward to seeing Andre/Joe v Ollie l and Ventner in the
mid division
Also note their young fullback Nick David is unavailable
wonder if it is injury or another reason ?

Collier vs Kerrod may well be a fitness thing - Collier is
coming back to fitness after a long injury break and if Kerrod
is carrying a knock he may just be in better shape.
I thought Kenningham put in a very strong performance against
Ulster and it's exciting to have the option to bring him on off
the bench along with Northmore, Tizard and Gray. I imagine that
with Kvesic and Hill on the opposing side, having a second
ferret on the bench could be very useful later in the game.

Most interesting for me is the bench: Tizard getting the slot
for lock, Gray chosen over Elia, Els over Botta and (as already
mentioned) Collier over Kerrod. Based on what we are being told
about injuries, this selection is on form.
I have no opinion on Tizard, and no issue with Gray over Elia,
or Els over Botta, but I thought Collier was very poor in the
last match, but that may be because of the pack he was part of,
and, it was a first start after a long time out injured. Bomb
must know what he's doing ...
