I have little enthusiasm for this match now. Shame we can't have
spectators to show their feelings about our management.

Mad Max - read Browne’s article. Pretty clear decision made
under PG’s regime and money spent or assigned elsewhere.
Just because signings are announced now does not mean just
signed. DC said contract all sorted before PG’s departure. SS
signed extension in Nov.
They did offer MB a deal at a later date, but was too low and MB
already signed with Falcons.
Not sure management such as a CEO is responsible for this one!

As I said on another thread I don't blame the CEO and senior
management for the decision to release Brown (daft as it is) but
I blame them 100% for the way it was handled and the way he has
been treated.

Although saying that, it was PG that delivered the news. Maybe
those above did not realise it would be done in such a poor
way??

Well it was their responsibility to ensure it was. I can't
imagine any business I have ever been associated with leaving it
to a line manager to tell an employee that he was no longer
wanted after seventeen or so years service. Plus they have had
enough time since to put it right by explaining things properly
and thanking him for his years of service. They would have spent
more than four minutes of their precious time sacking someone
for gross misconduct!

I'm more concerned with the former. I've every faith that
Tizard, Hamilton and Kenningham will put decent shifts in. Botta
and Elia need to show discipline and Elia needs to get his
set-piece right. If we can't get a reasonable platform it could
be a long evening with Cooney sniping and calling the shots.
Assuming we don't get annihilated up front, then it'll be
interesting to see how Steele and Herron go. Steele has been
great off the bench keeping the tempo of games up but I've been
less impressed on the few occasions he has started. Hoping he
can show a little more control and get us in the right areas.
I've been very critical of Herron in the past but post PG it's a
clean sheet as far as I'm concerned. I won't judge him solely on
today but he needs to start showing that he's a genuine Prem
quality 10.

Basically if we lose this badly but win our next three because
our frontline players are fresh and firing, it could still end
up being a good decision.

It's a cup competition we could conceivably win. If we lose
badly, whatever happens in the rest of the season we'll still be
out of this competition.
I also don't think Ulster are incredible or anything but I'd
expect us to handily beat most Premiership clubs' 2nd/3rd XVs!

A humiliating thrashing for a side sent out to die, in a
competition we had a real chance of winning. And what exactly is
the point of a sporting team that doesn't try and win trophies?
