The TMO was trying to check it but the ref wasn't having any of
it. Poor all round. No respect for Sinckler anymore.

Yes, should have admitted it, Bris had Pen advantage anyway.
Also, think it makes Care look like a bit of weasel sharing
something that was probably said in confidence.
I don't think that either of them come out of it particularly
       well tbh.

Sinckler. It's like walking in cricket - great if you do it, but
it's up to the umpire to make the decision. Seen plenty of tries
scored by teams I support when the player actually lost control
       of the ball, etc.

all that'll happen, and it's all that should happen.

Maybe the AR simply made a mistake rather than lied. People do
       make mistakes.

Like the time the assistant ref said he clearly say Ashton punch
Tuilagi, when he'd seen no such thing. Obviously they make
mistakes, but seems odd to say you're clear about something when
you're clearly wrong, and when it is important. Especially when
they then miss obvious stuff throughout the game, such as
offside at kick chase re-starts and then say nothing about it

You may be right T-Bone but in this instance without the aid of
a confession from the AR or the ability to read his mind we will
never know if he "obviously and clearly lied". I prefer not to
make negative assumptions about the honesty and integrity of
match officials but that's just my view.

I didn't mean to suggest that they obviously and clearly lied.
Just that they were clearly mistaken, so it seems odd to be so
confident about it. Given that they know they can rely on the
TMO, why not say "I am confident that I saw the x but given the
important suggest that the TMO checks". If they are confident
then by all means frame the question to the TMO accordingly. "on
field decision is try, any reason I can't award".
It's just difficult to understand how they could be so confident
that they clearly saw something that didn't happen.
I certainly wasn't questioning their integrity though. They have
       absolutely no reason to lie

Giving that the on field decision was a try the TMO would have
had to see the ball all the time without seeing it grounded to
disallow it which I'm not sure they could. I can forgive him for
making an error or two as we all make them.
One of the things that annoyed me about the touch on that side
during the last few plays of the match was, Bristol's scrum half
entering the maul from the side, at least twice, and lifting the
leg of one of our players just a few mitres away from him!

Anyway, at least we have an answer to QP's question on the other
thread of what it was that caused Quins to lose - Bristol
definitely did get a number of lucky decisions in their favour,
both for the Thomas steal and Sinckler's try.
Quins arguably also made a mistake trying to hold onto the ball
in midfield rather than pin Bristol back - and were punished for
it - but I don't remember from the TV angles whether there was
actually space to kick into - if I were Bristol I'd have had men
back to cover a potential kick, given how good they are on first
phase ball. Which said, it could still have been a good tactic
to kick for the corner and take the risk that it goes long or
into touch - given how much time was left, conceding a lineout
or scrum in midfield would have eaten the clock up quite
effectively and while it would have given possession back it
would have made it very hard for Bristol to score.

I fully appreciate that it wasn't you questioning their
