It’s all very well sitting at home, waving ‘Eddie must go’
banners, but just who else do you think .....
a) Is available
b) Would be prepared to take on such a thankless task
I agree with the general sentiment on here that England have
become stale, predictable, have no plan B when plan A isn’t
working, play the old favourites even though they are clearly
not match fit and struggling to find form.
We need a massive reorganisation as soon as possible, to enable
a squad capable of winning the World Cup to be ready for 2023,
give them time to form a cohesive unit and develop a winning
mindset. This will not happen if we persist with aging players
who might not even be around in 2023, and are obstructing the
path for exciting players to gain match experience at the top
level.
Rant over.

I caught on Talksoccer this morning that Robinson is keen on a
big international role and that is no secret, as he didn't get
the AB job. Not sure i'd want him as he didn't really pull up
trees with Scotland compared to what Townsend has achieved.
They also proffered O'Shea and had had an interview with him
where he was focusing on picking the right players rather than
the right system.

When did Scott Robertson coach Scotland?

Maybe confusing Scott R with Andy R?

I think the problem with this is suggesting the RFU have brains.

As much as I have criticised EJ (maybe not on this board) there
is, to use the popular new tackle law vernacular, mitigation.
Much the same team that beat NZ and then lost to SA are still
around - they have not become bad players. They are just playing
poorly, for a variety of reasons, including COVID-related issues
(bubble-living, smaller and closed-off squad) and the fall out
of the Sarries demotion. However much you hate the Romans
Saracens for what they did you have to admit that bearing that
cross (line on the left) will have an effect on those players
both because they haven't played and because they've been
relegated in the manner they have. It will take them time to
recover mentally and to regain physically their prowess.
EJ might have feared that leaving them out and replacing them
willy-nilly (as some on this board have suggested, whether
directly or indirectly) would be too risky. Perhaps better to
push ahead and keep the core of the squad together and see how
they react - not suggesting the this is/was an experiment!
Loosing Kruis, Launchberry, Underhill, Tuilagi and Nowell in
addition to poorly-prepared Sarries players has proven too much.
It was only in 2017/8 that people were saying, after the debacle
at home RWC in 2015 that he was building a squad for two RWC -
one in 2019 and another in 2023, when many of the players would
be at their peak.
Sarries boys need to go back to their team and play their hearts
and sort their heads out - get promotion and prepare for the
next test. Rest them for summer tours and try some form players
that will be understudies to the team projected to play the next
RWC, but keep a core of present players in too - they need to
get their heads on the straight and narrow too. You'd want to
see Simmonds (both), another Curry, a Smith, a Dombrandt,
another LH (*), Randall, Lawrence (with some ball) and another
option at FB.
(*) Unless Genge can concentrate on Rugby and not his legendary
edge: no point having edge if you can't scrummage and keep your
cool - it took Marler some time, so Genge deserves the same, but
needs to learn fast or he may be overtaken.

Kruis is in Japan, he was never available.
I just don't see how it's a defence of Eddie that the big
problem everyone could see a mile off - which he scoffed at -
turned into an even bigger problem that he did nothing about. If
he had taken the brave choice of binning off the Saracens
players temporarily and we'd still lost, at least people would
have understood, and the replacements would've had a fair shake
at proving themselves worthy.

That's my biggest problem with this 6 nations for England. Jones
has selected a bunch of players who have barely played, and then
when they have been bad he has doubled down and stuck with them.
International rugby isn't the place to give players time to play
themselves into form.

While I totally agree with your last sentence, by selecting them
in the first place he couldn't swap them out even if he wanted
to unless they were injured. It was a really poor gamble on his
part.
