Director of Rugby, do we actually need one?

My view is no we don't. Not having one avoids any one individual
having too much influence on how the squad functions and
performs. I get the feeling each week we are like a kind of
melting pot of enthusiasm where everyone feels they are valued
members.

If Millard is content with the current arrangement, then
continue as is.

My concern is whether this is detracting from what Billy M's
original remit to look after the the things like recruitment,
backroom staff, support staff etc.

Would be interesting to find out how it is really happening
behind the scenes. Is Billy that involved?

That is my thoughts FF. I think he also deals with stuff for the
womens side. The impression I got was he is happy short term.
Also be interesting how the current set up works when we hit a
bad run of form

Aren't they the things under his remit anyway?

Yes, but he wasn't planned on being a part of the week to week
coaching/selection process for the matchday team, so I'm
concerned he may be spreading himself a little thin covering
this on top of when he was originally brought in for.

My question is how much of the playing side is he actually
needing to be involved in. Just how much of a distraction is it.
I guess only Billy will be able to answer that

I think that things are going well at the moment because the
players and coaches are collectively creating and buying into
the team's style and approach. Jones, Flannery and Evans are
excellent coaches and have the respect of the leadership team of
the players. Well, all the players. The communication must be
very open and honest, which helps to build clarity and trust.
Do we need a Head Coach or DOR? At this stage, no. But I would
be happy to see one of them step up. Flannery seems to be the
one with the drive to make it. He has embraced the club's
culture but has a lot of experience away from Quins to give him
the benefit of different ways of developing the team in the
future.
