When this was first reported it came down to Quins offering
Brown a one year extension whereas Newcastle offered two years
and a coaching gig. The coaching part was definitely not on the
table at the time with Quins. Gustard was still in charge so
that might have changed (or might not have!)

Sad to hear if its true, but best of luck to him.
Understand rugby players need a long term plan
after playing.
Watching the match last night in Newcastle, it looked
freezing.
Big move for him to consider I would think.

The Mike Brown Completes Move Away "article" is just Ruck
posting a screenshot of a Fissler tweet from back in January.
This rumour has been circulating since then - a lot has happened
at Quins since then, including Brownie's form dramatically
returning to something reminiscent of the performance levels
we've come to expect of him over the years. I'm usually quite
happy to believe there's a lot of truth in these rumours - and
I'm sure there nearly always is some basis for them - but
equally, I think we could see this one do the 180. Especially
with the apparent behind-the-scenes toing and froing with
Baldwin's Worcester move. Quins wasn't the place to be just a
few months ago. Now, dare I say there might be something spe-...
Okay, I won't, but it does feel like we've turned a corner and
the culture appears to be one the players are really enjoying
being part of again.
Would actually love Brownie to stay now, whereas only a few
months ago I had come to the conclusion that my favourite ever
Quins player was finally "past it". Glad to say he's proven me
wrong there and I think he still has a lot to offer for a season
or two - particularly as a mentor to help bring through Lynagh
as his long-term successor.
I have no way of even guessing whether or not he'd make a good
coach. It's interesting that DC always seems to do the speeches
and hand out the "special" shirts/caps to players making
milestones - it seems to me that Brownie doesn't do that kind of
thing. I do wonder if he'd have the right kind of communication
skills to coach. It's hard to see where the opening would be for
him in the coaching ranks at Quins as well - especially now JTH
has joined. NEv looks after the backs and it seems JTH has been
supplementing that. I don't see how Quins could offer him the
remit to develop as a coach within the existing setup. This is
the thing Newcastle can offer that I don't think Quins could -
and Dean Richards is a hell of a coach to learn from.
Conclusion: this rumour is still very much 50/50 in my mind.

Come on Mike, please stay! Yeah we were totally crap under
Gustard & anyone could understand why you might have wanted to
leave. However things have completely changed at Quins & you are
back playing at your best & there's still a few years to go.
Whatever you might have signed, there's time to have a big
second thought & change of heart. You know it makes sense. You
belong here, we love you, & don't want you to leave..!! Come on
Quins sort this out.

If he decides to looks in the market is one thing, but at the
moment no one we have in the team can give us the guarantees
that MB gives us as a fullback.
After 16 years and 335 appearances, we must not or can let him
go to finish his career at another club, other than the fact
that he is playing very well, I don't see all that difference
between him and Daly although I understand that the age matters
a lot, and maybe in 2 years he won't be playing as well as he is
now.
We can't let him go.
He was one of the players who made me in love about this team.

Got to agree with the previous post. This guy bleeds Quins and
to see him finish playing somewhere else doesn’t do him or the
club justice. He’s playing some of his best rugby at the moment
IMHO and has developed a maturity in his reading of the game
which I’ve not really noticed before. The guy has to stay.

I guess it comes down to money. Perhaps he is not happy with the
money or length of contract offered by Gustard. I think he is
defo worth a two year contract. He is super fit and seems hungry
still.
Minty must be a good mate and has perhaps twisted his arm.
If he does leave, it must make a big dent in the salary cap
figures.
I just hope the club come out with the decisions over these
transfers. We need clarity on the management / coaches. I think
the way the team has improved has complicated that argument.
