Very good at scrum time. Only reason he has not featured is due

Collier is still a good player. An elbow injury is debilitating
for a prop so hopefully he’s now fit and ready to compete with
Kerrod to be Louw’s understudy.
Realistically though, I do expect him to be third choice.
Trenier might be excellent but I’m reluctant to say he’s better
than Collier until I’ve seen him play at this level.

Also worth thinking about where Baxter could fit in to the mix
at tighthead. If he can live up to his potential he could
quickly leapfrog Collier and Trenier.
We just need to build similar strength at loosehead. Els is
definitely a promising back to Marler but we don’t really have
any depth there. I’m assuming Garcia Botta is off which is no
great loss IMO so it’s an area I’d really like to see us
strengthen. No idea who I’d go for though ...

I think one of the problems Collier has is that he will have to
go some way to overtake Kerrod and Louw. Collier is at the age
where he needs to be playing week in week out, not a 3rd choice.
I would also guess Trenier is on less money (based on
experience etc, Collier is an international). With the 2
academy players coming through, I think we could afford to lose
a TH in the near future. I could see Collier being the one that
goes. I probably have not explained myself very well in my
previous posts, so apologies. In short, we have great depth at
TH, Collier could well end up being "sacrificed" and the money
used elsewhere (like LH). Id like us to look at either the
Champ for a good young LH or the SH. Marler, Els, New Bloke and
the new Academy LH is a good starting base considering we will
not lose any due to call ups.

Reading Buckskin's original list, it seems that apart from
Gray/Elia, there is a preference for Da Yoof over Wheezy Old
Codgers. Which, given recent results, is great going forward.

I do think we’re potentially short a loose head, we were very
lucky with Joe’s decision not to enter the England bubble, but
he’s still only 30 and post-covid restrictions could well be
called up again. We’re likely to sign Will Hobson (Baxter’s
usual front row partner through school and Quins / England age
groups) to the academy for next season, but ideally (cap
allowing) a 4th LH would let us plan for downtime and injuries.
I think Tapuai is more valuable to squad strength and
flexibility than we’re giving him credit for, but will concede
he may be too expensive to retain as back-up 12.
Also (a minority opinion I know) but I am starting to wonder if,
having had enough time to finally shake off persistent injury
issues, Joe Gray might be beginning to find some form.

Agree re Gray. He was great in the set piece yesterday. I would
happily sacrifice him not having Elia’s loose ability for his
set piece solidity.
I disagree with Tapuai though, didn’t have the impact that
andre/ lasike has and eats up a big chunk of the salary cap.
Would love to see an academy prospect being rotated imo
