Implications in recent team selection

Others may see it differently, of course, but to me the recent
selections appear to indicate:
— Els is ahead of Garcia Botta in the coaches thinking
— Gray is preferred to Elia
— Kerrod over Collier
— Lamb over Young (though that may be because he's going so give
Lamb more experience/opportunity now)
— Murley and Green over Earle and Chisholm (not necessarily
negative towards Lynagh, since he's still young)
— Northmore over Tapuai (unless this is a 13 versus 12 decision)
And I would hope:
— Steele over Landajo.
Any others that people can spot?

I think that is fair.
I would be surprised if Botta, Landajo and Tapuai stayed. I
also hope recent selection does not indicate Lasike is off.
Going forward, I could see Collier dropping to 4th choice behind
Trenier. Elia is a strange one, I would put him over Gray in
general but, Gray (barring the odd wobble, which is fine) is
better at the hooking basics. Elia is just too hit and miss at
LO time.

I try not to read too much into it. Coaches have a lot more
information and visibility of players than we do. Even if
someone isn't technically on the injured list, all it means is
that they are in full training - it doesn't mean they're match
fit.
Collier is just back from long term injury, and Earle's injury
was the sort you need to be careful coming back from - we have
the luxury of being able to ease them back in and that may be
what the coaches are doing. Which said, it's great to have
multiple options at TH and wing, any of whom we'd be pretty
happy to see on the pitch.
Lamb and Northmore I suspect are more positional choices -
Northmore is more a natural 13 than Taps (who also had a pretty
bruising game at Sandy Park), Lamb adds a bit more heft than
Young and I suspect is better in the setpiece when we have
Marler and Louw on the bench.

Yep. I was about to post something very similar to Poorfour.
As for Collier slipping behind Trenier, I’m not sure how you
figure that given Trenier’s not managed to make a 23 yet!

I did say going forward....
Trenier had a reputation as being a very good player in the
champ. Along with Els they had the better most sides (and as
Sarries pack has found out, that is not as easy as it sounds)
Very good at scrum time. Only reason he has not featured is due
to a long term injury. Collier (possibly due to his injuries
and not having a real decent run in the side) seemed to have
dropped off for me. Im not saying he is a bad player, far from
it. More a case that if he does not "lift" his game, I could
see Trenier moving above him in the order. Id say Collier could
be fighting for his Quins future (with Louw, Kerrord and the 2
academy guys in Wilson and Baxter)

me and my wife rather than Gustard.
thought Collier was injured something was mentioned about that
the other week when he played.

Pretty sure he's had a few injuries in the last two years and
hasn't had a good run to get his fitness and skills back - when
Sinks was with us, he was more than an adequate back up - he
held his place easily. Give him some time.
