Wasn’t exactly highly spoken off at Agen :-
Ibitoye joined Agen last year after spending five seasons with
Harlequins and now once again he is set to be on the move.
The club has been enduring tough time in the Top 14 as they have
lost all their 14 matches until now and are languishing at the
bottom of the table and are sixth in the Challenge Cup with a
win and a defeat in the two rounds that were possible.
The 22-year-old made seven appearances for Agen and has scored
two tries. He has now joined Montpellier as a medical joker
following the long-term absence of South African international
Handre Pollard with Toulon and Bayonne among the front-runners
to sign him in the next season.
“He [Ibitoye] hasn’t been involved since the start of the
season. He doesn’t invest a lot. He has a Pro D2 clause which
allows him to leave in the event of a downhill at the end of the
season. He is, therefore, more in the management of his career
rather than involvement with the club," said Agen president
Jean-Francois Fonteneau to Sud-Quest.
"Even if the player has potential, in our context and given his
lack of involvement since the start of the season, I said stop,"
Fonteneau said.
"Having refused a first offer for him to finish the season
elsewhere (at Bayonne0, I have accepted this time that he join
Montpellier."
Montpellier are a place above Agen in the table after managing
three victories from 12 games and have lost both their matches
in the league stage of the Heineken Champions Cup.

It’s understandable that the timing/circumstances of Ibitoye’s
exit have left a bad taste in the mouth, but in my opinion some
of the comments here go a bit too far.
Gabs was with Quins since he was 12, he isn’t a perfect player,
but for the season or so he featured regularly he scored tries
for us for fun, at a time when we were finding them hard to come
by.
Given what’s happened in France I can see why he isn’t ready to
come back with his tail between his legs. But I personally do
hope that some bridges get mended.
Quins have and will move on, but that doesn’t mean that a player
like Ibitoye has nothing to bring to the table.

If Ibitoje stayed with us and continued developing he might be
on the England radar, possibly after the WC as he was mentioned
previously.
Instead he opted to go abroad, and now the path he is on I’m
firmly in the belief we will chalk him up in the “what could of
been” category. Ravel Morrison in football springs to mind.

I've never understood the hype. Okay, he managed to look quite
flash in attack at times, especially when playing for England
U20 against other youngsters, but can anyone honestly say they
didn't just groan any time they saw that he was the last line of
defence?

We currently have Green Lynagh Chisholm Murley Morris Earle
(Marchandt).
I don't think we need it, despite being a hugely talented
player.
P.s.:It was voted the biggest 2020/2021 signing flop on a French
site.

A great broken field runner, but his basic skill set just wasn't
good enough. Positioning, tackling and handling all below par.
All things he should be able to improve on.... it's up to him
whether he has the determination to take his game up a few
levels. Given the number of first team games, I didn't see an
improvement.
They may not have his raw pace, but I think Lynagh and Murley
are far more rounded players and better long term prospects.
