He's not fit enough for international rugby any more imo.
Think the only non international player in with a shout is Sam
Simmonds.

Agree with this. Regarding Simmonds vs Dombrandt, love Dombrandt
but I still feel hes got a bit to work on with his defence
before he’s ready for top international rugby. Seems like when
he’s tired his tackle technique completely goes and puts in lazy
hits.

Dombrandt has a looser, more rangy style and Simmonds more
compact and impactual; Simmonds bashes better, Dombrandt
offloads better. Simmonds appears to be some 20% fitter...

.. and neither of them are likely to seriously feature for
England pre RWC 2023.

If Wales win the Grand Slam, Gatland will probably find 3 Welsh
scrum-halves for the Lions.

Well NQ, this will be the only tour when he can justify having a
lot of welshies in the side as they have been the most
consistent and it'd be churlish for England fans to moan when
we've all been so critical that our own international team coach
also isn't picking players on form.
I say it every 4 years, we need a Ryder Cup style points system
for the Lions properly weighted to reflect the standards of the
leagues/europe/internationals.

Wales were utterly dreadful in the Autumn but they've taken
advantage of the slightly fortuitous circumstances involving the
opening games of the 6 nations and look to be getting themselves
together well. Does any team so consistently go from pretty poor
to very good and back again quite as quickly as Wales do?

No, no, no you've got it wrong. Gatland's selection criteria for
the Lions has always been to pick players who could perform in
the 2nd and 3rd test regardless of how crocked or out of form
they are initially. On that basis, England players should be in
pole position this time around.

Times today has Care as a potential Lions bolter: ‘Discarded by
Eddie Jones, but excellent for Harlequins’
