There was much frustration when England last went on a poor run
in 2018. Jones reacted by cutting some older players (Robshaw,
Hartley etc) in favour of promoting others (Curry, Underhill
etc) and ended up in the RWC Final. Perhaps he'll do something
       similar now.

The challenge is that he has a number of problems to address all
at once: playing style (teams have figured out how to beat
England's limited game plan), personnel (Salarycens' players
shockingly off the pace), poor individual and team decision
making/discipline, and obsessive loyalty to certain key players
(Daly being the standout example), who are not now easily able
to be replaced with new players who can function effectively as
a team, playing a different style, at short notice (so he's
rather stuck). The combination of all of the above doesn't get
       fixed in two weeks.

Personally I think that Eddie Jones' time has passed and his
desired style of play seems horribly basic and out of date
compared to many younger more progressive coaches. Having been
on a number of RFU coaching courses recently(prior to Covid
anyway) it does appear that the game plan and approach EJ
favours is hugely out of line with the message that the RFU is
trying to get coaches to buy into lower down the chain.
Obviously professional rugby is different to amateur rugby, but
surely if they are trying to promote "attacking, heads up" at
lower levels then they obviously see this as the way forward,
but the coach keeps playing in a totally different way.

we died on penalties given away at the weekend, we've all seen
that at the start of any season when players are rusty, it was
expected by all except EJ for some reason, he should have chosen
from a pool of players actually playing competitive rugby, only
got himself to blame for what will be our worst performance in a
6 nations for many too many years to remember.

We came fifth in 2018, so I'd hope we can match that, if only
       through the generosity of Italy...

Agree with all the points about the players above but I think
Itoje avoided a yellow at the weekend because 3 of the 5 were
margin calls and the ref knew that, so was reluctant to get
criticised over a yellow. Ironic when you consider the two tries
       he gave!!!
Drop Mako, Billy, Jamie, Owen and Elliott (see how polite I'm
being)and start other players against Ireland & France. If it
works, he looks a genius who waited too long to let his head
over-rule his heart. if it doesn't work, he can say he told us
so. I can't see how he looses really.
