I was worried when I read about wholesale changes, but on seeing
the team I'm actually pretty pleased. 2 of those changes are
Chisholm and Louw coming in, so hardly a weakness.
Northcome comes in but Marchant remains, so again that's not
really weakening the team.
Tizard we know is decent.
Morris has been much better on the wing, but hopefully his
recent run of games and good form can translate to 15 and give
him confidence. It's a job made harder by playing in a new back
3, with someone playing out of position, albeit with experience
of doing so, and someone winning their first start.
Lanjado is not ideal, but at least he's palying with Smith, so a
completely changed half back pairing.
Kenningham and Green the two unknowns, but Kenningham looked
decent in A league games so hopefully, like Tizard, he can step
up.
Should be an interesting game. Will Newcastle's break help or
hinder them?

I'm excited by this selection. We know Chisholm could do a job
at openside but its far from ideal so why not throw in
Kenningham. Good luck to the young lad.
Pleased to see Tizard and Green getting more minutes.
Morris had some poor games at FB last year, with wayward kicking
and some poor decision making. He is, however, generally solid
under the high ball and he's coming off a good run of games so
I'm feeling pretty positive that he'll put in a decent showing.
My biggest concern in Landajo. He needs to bring some tempo to
the game. Archie White has already made me eat my words this
season, so hoping Landajo does the same.

IMO three of Falcons' highest profile players are Wilson, Graham
and Flood. As none of them are even in the 23, I don't think
this could be called a full strength team.

Agreed. Wilson and Graham are two of the most industrious and
well-rounded back rowers in the Prem and from what I've seen of
Newcastle, they've been key to their good run of form.

I've kept an eye on Newcastle this year, one of my best mates is
a Falcons supporter and up until the COVID distractions and game
cancellations, he was loving it.
They have a big beast of a pack, Deno has got them working very
hard for each other, no superstars, but good players who know
what their jobs are. Robinson the Captain is a real workhorse,
big and powerful around the park. Chick and the Openside are
second or third choices, normally, Wilson would be playing 6 but
is away with England and Gary Graham has been a beast this
season, fully deserving his Scotland recall.
McGuigan at hooker is excellent around the park, super high
energy and hits his darts. Ellia has his hands full with him.
Also, the Scrum-half, I have not seen him play, but he is not
1st choice, Michael Young the ex Tigers no9 is there usual no 9
and he is injured.
So all in all, I think if the youngsters can stand up to the
gnarly old pack, we should be able to compete.
Its exciting to see how Green goes on the wing, if his youtube
tribute is anything to go by, he should be an excellent option
in the back three. Also, not seen anything of Kenningham. So
hope they and the rest of the boys go well.
Looking forward to the game.

From what I’ve seen of Kenningham in A league performances, he
has a very high motor, seemed to making a high number of both
tackles and carries. A fair bit bigger than Evans both height
and weight wise. Had been playing consistently in the Bath Uni
team in BUCS so playing against a decent standard.

Can't see us winning this one. Too many changes in key positions

Interesting comments from Deano about how we have completely
changed our way of playing since PG left. Obviously not just the
players playing better - it’s got to do with the game plan they
are told to play too.

Kenningham was in the Sevens team up at Northampton a few years
ago.
He will give us a good bit of pace and skill at the breakdown
and will be a good contrast to the power and size we have in the
rest of the pack.
Exciting stuff. Let's hope these boys can take their
opportunity.

The thing I liked about watching Kenningham in the A League was
that he was always first in to the breakdown, making himself a
pest. Did not stop the whole time he was on the pitch.
Obviously this is a big step up but if he puts in the same work
rate here he should be fine
