I’m not sure it works out quite that way... the overheads for
using the Big Stoop are significantly higher. Remember we have
to pay the RFU to use it, and they will take a cut of all the
catering and beer. Mark Evans said that the 1st Big Game, where
we only had approval from the police to sell 50,000 tickets,
made about as much money as a sell out at the Stoop. Once you
get beyond that, Quins start making serious money because the
overall cost of using Twickers is mostly fixed... but that’s out
of the question at the moment.
Things may be a bit different in the current strange
circumstances - it’s very possible that the RFU are sufficiently
straitened that they will cut a generous deal just to get
anything in the stadium. And 10,000 seats would enable them to
accommodate all the STHs and still sell a few more tickets,
which must also be a factor.
I’m sure Mr Dalrymple has a very good idea of what the deal
needs to be for it to make sense - but I wouldn’t count on Quins
making a whole load more than they could for having 4000 at the
Stoop.

IIRC the scrum half (forget name) passed back when he could
easily have kicked out being tight in the NE corner; and I think
the wind brought the ball back in like a boomerangs!

I think at one point we got Twickenham leased to us for £1! It
depends on the deal to be struck. If the RFU hold out for some
sort of maximised revenue, they're just going to get the bird.
If they want to do something to improve rugby in England at the
moment, then maybe something will change.

Not sure about that. There was a figure bandied about a few
years ago, that the fixed cost to hire HQ is £800k.

BB was not unlucky with that kick he was idiotic, he could have
turned 90 or 180 degrees and kicked right out under no pressure,
instead he hoofed it up the field missed touch and they ran it
back for a try to win the game. He did that same thing in the
follow up Europe fixture as well I seem to remember where I
think we lost to the team he went to the follow on season.

He made a bad judgement call but "idiotic" is going way too far.
He received the ball under pressure and rather than take the
additional time to kick in an unfamiliar direction (and risk
getting tackled), he took the fastest kicking option. Under
normal circumstances that kick would go out 100% of the time,
and even on the day neither team had been missing touch that
much. He misjudged how strong the wind was and the result was
bad for Quins, but it was a marginal decision that he got wrong.

I think it was just a brain fart. 9 times out of 10 he deals
with it and no disaster.

100% agree. Still hurts. Ultimately cost us Top 6/Champions Cup
(and hence a load of TV money) IIRC? In many ways that moment
was the beginning of 5 seasons of ever-increasing
disappointment. Not sure we can quite blame Calamity Botica for
everything since then though, including CV19 and the Stoop being
closed to fans (remind me why we are we talking about BB on this
thread?!)
