Player ratings yesterday

All,
For a bit of entertainment and debate, my suggested ratings from
yesterday. I’ve done this a few times before and it’s always
fascinating how different people view things differently. For
parity, a total score of 105 would equate to the 15 starters
scoring 7 points in total.
Kerod - 6. Solid in the set piece, but could do more ball
carrying.
Baldwin - 8. Good line out and scrummaging. Continues to do a
lot of our ball carrying, despite his comparative size. Really
tried to take on the Evans ruck role when he went off.
Marler - 7. rock solid as ever. Lots of tackles and the go to
when we need a solid base to kick
Symons- 8. strong in defence. Rest of team has real confidence
around him. Line out work excellent.
Lewies - 7. Lung busting effort as ever and good line out work.
An press we’ve come on leaps and bounds in recently
Evans - 9. Unbelievable effort and grit. Turned balls over and
slowed things down everywhere. Had his hands on the ball a few
times as well. When he went off sale had much more time and
pace. Hopefully not too hurt.
White - 6. Quiet really. Did nothing wrong but doesn’t get the
turnovers and doesn’t carry. Lots of tackling though.
Dombrandt - 7. Showed incredible skill when necessary. Goes
missing for parts of games and was definitely tired late on.
Still a top class player
Care - 9. Best game for a long time. Zip, pace, skill and desire
back to see. No wasting time waving his arms around. Some
excellent kicking
Smith - 8. Tough first 20 as sale attacked but grew and grew.
Surely the form 10 in England.
Esterhuizen - 8. A beast, with soft hands. Always keen for the
physical.
Marchant - 8. Two good finishes. Not an out and out bolter but
enough pace
Lynagh - 6. Did nothing wrong but not as involved as usual.
Morris - 7. Solid. Much better as winger than a full back.
Guilty of some lack of communication late on.
Brown - 9. Loves playing sale and especially Yarde. As good as
he was 5 years ago. Positioning excellent in both attack and
defence.
Thoughts?

Pretty fair - I'd give White a 7 as feel he always put a shift
in without being stand out. I didn't realise he played England
U20 wit Evans and when the 2 play together I like the balance
for the backrow.

Please don't think I'm having a dig here Zandini or to anybody
else who does this kind of thing but, when I watch a team sport
I can't watch every player and give them a mark while actually
watching the game for the enjoyment I hope it gives me.
I do notice who obviously played well or bad in a match but, I
can't take in everything every player does.
Well done to all those who can though!

Interesting point re Dombrandt, Zandini, I watch the games with
my 14 year old daughter who loves Dombrandt (and Smith, Care,
Evans delete as applicable) but in the last few games, around 50
mins, she has asked if Dombrandt has gone off so I see what you
mean about going missing.
He was blowing quite a bit at the end so probably needs a break.
We have been so lucky with Minty, Jack Clifford (sad end to what
should have been a great career) and now Dommers. All great
No.8s.

One thing that reeeally annoys me about Dombrandt at the moment
is that, seemingly when he gets tired, his defensive patience
and tackle technique go out the window. He's been really lucky
not to pick up some yellow cards along the way - he'll rush out
of the line (creating a dog-leg) and throw a lazy shoulder
charge. Anyone else picked up on this? It worries me, especially
with refs coming down hard on poor tackle technique at present.
We need Dombrandt available to us, I don't want to see him
sitting out through suspension. I also just don't want to see
our players resorting to dirty play.
