If they do see Green as a backup to Marcus, then I am not
surprised they are introducing him slowly. It takes time to
learn the attacking patterns and they don't want to shatter his
confidence and earn our ire by throwing him in before he's
comfortable running them. Against Bath it was noticeable how
much Marcus was directing things, and how much it slowed down
when Lang - who's a decent player and knows the squad - moved to
10.
If Quins see potential in Green, it will probably pay off in the
longer run to put him through a mini-academy programme to get up
to speed with how we run the game. What little we have seen
suggests that potential is there - both in his speed of foot but
also in the speed of thought for his pickup and offload for
Lang's try against Wasps.

Will be interesting to see how our recruitment goes without a
head of rugby in place. I think there main areas of concern have
to be the back row as we just don’t seem to have enough numbers
in those position. Second row too potentially as we are losing
Young and Cavubati doesn’t seem to be fancied. Yes we have some
young gems coming through, especially Tizard but I feel another
experienced 2nd row is key.
Back line is interesting. Centre are well balanced for the first
time in a while. Full back, all depends on if browny does decide
to go. Wingers, I’m really torn over. We have good young players
in Lynagh, green, murley with Morris, Earle, Chisholm. I can’t
help but feel it all depends on Earle rediscovering his form. On
his day, Earle is international quality but hasn’t been near
there since his return from injury. If he can’t rediscover his
form then we need another international/world class option.
Fly half is tricky as with Smith, I’m not sure many would be
keen to come and just keep the number 22 jersey warm. Especially
if there are no signs of england selecting him. I wonder if we
could tempt a Freddie Burns to come and support and nurture him
a bit as according to reports he’s looking to come back from
Japan.

Billy M's original remit when they split the DoR role was to
cover some of the recruitment side of things to free up the HoR
to concentrate more on the coaching itself.

This is the conundrum. Quins could tie up significant salary in
a quality back up like Freddie Burns with the expectation that
Marcus will miss games through international duty however, that
may not materialise if EJ stays in role. So we could put out a
fat wage for someone who doesn't end up playing a lot.

Would Freddie Burns still command a "fat wage"? I don't know,
but I'm not so sure he would...

Alex Goode? Could be a good option if we are looking for a 10/15
backup. Think he’s in Japan on loan.

Would be surprised if we signed any of the sarries boys, after
the salary cap scandal a fair few of our senior players were
pretty vocal/critical on the whole saga. But, if we were to have
one, I’d rather have Kruis- saw rumours of him potentially
wanting to return to the prem and would be a brilliant addition
to the squad/mentor to the young guys.
