Great news re Marcus. After the 116 player turnover during
Gustards time here, perhaps now is the time for some stability &
to work with what weve got? Apart from obvious gaps.

I'm sure Watson has come out stating he is staying in Bath -
there was something last week.
This year the signings - will be more about replacing the losses
but also keeping the quality.
Lang - Is a HUGE hole - he covers so many positions and is hard
to replace.
Young - less so as i assume the club will lean on Lamb, Hammond
and Tizard.
Wonder who else could be on their way out??

Yes and no — it's the "obvious gaps" that are the problem right
now! And as I've said before, not so much in terms of our first
XV (which on their day would be a match for anyone) but in the
huge drop off in quality when it comes to the bench and those
who have to replace the first XV.

I think another young 10/12 is the best bet - same lines as
Lang. Makes them a good bench option. What about Tom Hardwick,
who seems to have stalled at Leicester? Working with NEv should
help him kick on.

To ensure continuity, we need a back up 10 who is similar in
style to Marcus and prepared to take the ball flat to the line.
I'd therefore agree that a younger fly half is more likely to be
a better fit for us rather than a grizzled veteran.
The problem with a player who covers 10 and 12 is that they're
going to be second choice behind arguably our best two players
in Smith and Esterhuizen. Might make it a difficult pitch...
I think a 15 who can also play 10 could kill two birds in one
stone as a replacement for Brown but also back-up to Marcus.

Is that not Tyrone Greene?
I'm starting to think that was a panic buy just because he
suddenly appeared on the market cause he just hasn't had much
game time but it still feels like he could be a fantastic buy if
utilised properly.
That said, he hasn't been too impressive when he has had a shot

Good question. I've just not seen enough of Green to have an
informed opinion. I heard/understand he can play anywhere along
the back line but is he good enough at 10 to step in for a
sustained period if Marcus is on international duty or injured?
I honestly don't know.
Green had a decent cameo against Bath last time out. Seemed to
have done decent wheels when he came in on the wing.
