It seemed to me in the Bath game that the TMO had an open mic to
CMK for the whole game . With a continuing loop of play running
. The stop start and constant “in the ear “ of the ref was
distracting to say the least . And the farce at the end to
decide whether there was a deliberate knock on summed it up .
Also the Scottish touch
Judge was forever intervening for trivial matters too

It sounded like our match was being policed by a committee at
times.

I think the concern should be how bad CMK would have been
without all the help.

I'd rather a ref who is consultative and makes use of the tools
at his disposal rather than an arrogant one who doesn't.
Unfortunately CMK can give the impression as being a bit weak
and being influenced/led by his team. He's young and I'm sure
he'll start to stamp his authority on games more.
He got all the major decisions right, although took some time to
get there.
Thought his interpretation of the breakdown could've been
better. Seemed that jackals had to be on the ball for an age
before he blew.

Andrew Small was another who relied constantly on his TMO &
could rarely make his own decisions on the field. I think
Christophe Ridley has a lot of promise & could become a great
ref, he tends to ref what he sees, still very young though.

Were there any decisions that the "committee" got badly wrong?
Were there lengthy breaks to the game?
I'm all for the Ref, his ARs and the 4th offishul to work
together as a team to ensure that the game is refereed
effectively.

I like the ref to be the man actually reffing the game, and
relying on his team for help/input. I don't like the TMO reffing
the game.

I know what you mean but then people moan because the ref misses
stuff. They can't see everything and it seems to be getting more
complicated.

Precisely - I'm not going to assert that those that shout at the
ref when he misses something also shout the at TMO when he/she
points something out - but...

I wonder if it was simply a case of every single interaction
from the TMO being heard over the commentary, maybe due to it
being a more basic broadcast/one of the filler matches with no
co-commentators or other frippery for example? Mostly we hear
the ref tell a player the TMO has checked something yet we don't
hear the TMO's voice.
