Premier 15s: Saracens awarded win over Harlequins after Covid-19
case

From the BBC Sport Website
Saracens have been awarded five points after their Premier 15s
match against Harlequins last month was postponed because of a
positive coronavirus test in the Quins squad.
The south-west London club were unable to field a side as 28
other players were required to self-isolate.
A Premier 15s disputes committee found that Quins had breached
agreed league protocols by not filming outdoor training
sessions.
The decision is subject to appeal.
The final score of the match has been recorded as 0-0 but
Saracens have effectively been handed a bonus-point win for the
fixture, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday, 2
January.
The decision means Sarries will move level on 40 points with
league leaders Harlequins, but remain in second place in the
table on points difference.
Quins accepted the club had breached minimum operating
standards, which require Premier 15s clubs to record training
sessions to assist with contact tracing protocols in case of a
Covid-19 outbreak.
"The standards have been put in place to ensure the health and
wellbeing of all, and by not filming their contact training
sessions there was a requirement to isolate so many people,"
said a statement issued by the Rugby Football Union.

Shame that. When Saracens couldn't field a team, it was
rescheduled. When we then couldn't field a team for the
rescheduled game, we're in a similar situation to them but are
scuppered by failing to record the interactions of players.

Not sure on what basis they would appeal. They've accepted they
breached protocols.

So both teams have had to cancel this fixture but, only one team
get punished. [emoji848]Seems fair I suppose as one of the clubs
are Sarries!

In fairness, we dont really know the ins and outs (we may
never). Maybe they forgot to take the lens cap off

Bit more to it than that

Hang on, it seems pretty clear that there's rules that need to
be followed and we simply didn't follow them.

Doesn`t necessarily follow that the game should be forfeited
though.

I don't know if that particular punishment was codified before
the tournament began but it does not seem an unreasonable stance
to take. Clearly it's a big failure of operating standards and
as a result it's not unfair that we're punished more heavily
than Saracens, who did what they were supposed to do.
