SPRINGBOK DUO STEPHAN LEWIES AND ANDRE ESTERHUIZEN RETURN FROM
INJURY AND SUSPENSION RESPECTIVELY AS QUINS RETURN TO ACTION AT
THE RICOH ARENA
In the first Gallagher Premiership game in three weeks
Harlequins welcome back Club Captain Stephan Lewies from injury
as he leads his side away to Wasps. Returning from suspension,
fellow Springbok Andre Esterhuizen bolsters Harlequins’ midfield
as the 6’4”, 115kg centre starts alongside England international
Joe Marchant in the midfield.
Young outside back Louis Lynagh retains his spot in the fourteen
jersey paired on the other wing by fit again Aaron Morris back
to the starting XV fresh from his contract renewal earlier on
Wednesday.
Fresh from inking his own contract renewal, Quins stalwart Danny
Care returns to the matchday squad to partner Marcus Smith in
the halfback department.
Archie White earns his first start of the season in the back
row, stepping in at blindside in the absence of injured duo Tom
Lawday and James Chisholm.
Commenting, Attack and Backs Coach Nick Evans said: “Firstly,
it’s been great to be back in the swing of a regular game week
after a bit of an enforced break.
“We’re also pleased to welcome back two players of great quality
in Stephan and Andre this week. They’re two good mates that have
been desperate to be back out on the field and are excited to be
back in the XV.
“We’ve named a strong team with a great blend of experience and
youth who are keen to wear the jersey again on Sunday with real
pride and passion.
“Wasps are one of the form teams in the league at the moment,
with Lee Blackett doing a sterling job, and we are looking
forward to stepping up to the challenge this week.”

Lee Blackett has named his Wasps side to host Harlequins at
Ricoh Arena in Gallagher Premiership Round Seven on Sunday.
New virtual player signing, 13-year-old Alexander Goodwin comes
into the squad as Wasps’ 24th man and using Vodafone technology
will be part of the team from his sofa at home.
Malakai Fekitoa and Zach Kibirige return from injury to take
their places at 13 and on the wing respectively.
After deciding against joining up with Italy for the Guinness
Six Nations, Matteo Minozzi is included in the team on the other
wing.
With club-captain Joe Launchbury out injured, Thomas Young is
named as captain at openside flanker.
Will Rowlands starts in the second row alongside James Gaskell,
with Rowlands due to join the Welsh preparations for the Six
Nations after this weekend.
Paolo Odogwu, Dan Robson, Jack Willis and Tom West are away with
England as they build-up to their Six Nations campaign.

Bring it on! Teams on paper I fancy Quins can have a real shot
at this one. Not sure about Archie White starting but I hope he
can prove us all wrong and put in a real shift. COYQ!

Great team on paper. Let’s see what they can do. BUT our depth
in the back row has gone from immense to shambolic in a year.
How White is starting in a prem game for us I do not know or
understand. He is dreadful. He single handed cost us the Irish
game

Shortage of back row options now really biting. Let's hope White
puts in a good showing. From what I've seen of him, I'd be
tempted to put Elia in the back row....
Steele isn't listed as injured, so surprised Landajo is in ahead
of him. Steele wasn't great starting against Irish but he's been
very good of the bench.

The fact that Archie White is anywhere near the 23 let alone
starting shows what a problem we have with depth in the back
row.
We’re fortunatete that Wasps are missing a few players,
particularly Willis Snr and Barbeary

Very glad to see Esterhuizen back hopefully he can dominate that
10/12 channel like Lasike did the last time we won at Wasps. Big
game for White, he’s 23 now and so far has had very positive
little impact on the senior squad. Would rather Kennigham or
Trenholm be given a shot if White fails to have an impact again.

Good team and in THEORY should be able to compete. Hoping Mr
Anonymous aka Archie White has a good game, because if he’s our
options at 6 we are more stretched than Alison Hammonds belt.
